Are there really no facilities? We are staying at Purtis Creek right?

I thought your new Gear Up Ural came with a shovel. What's the problem?

It does but I'd rather have a shower as well unless I'm really roughin' it in the middle of NM desert looking for tweety!

Re: Crazy Bob’s Toasty Camp out (July 27 & 28)

I was on the other side of Cedar Creek lake last week and noticed Burn Ban signs everywhere. Does anyone know if Purtis is under a burn ban? Not that we need a fire in July, but it would be comforting to BS in the glow.

Sigh. I hope its not burn ban. Maybe I should modify my led camp light to have a red and yellow flicker so its more harmonious to burn ban and telling lies. Lol.

If we can get a few people to tote tiki's or citronella candles we could set them in the fire pit and bask in the glow of faux fire?

I'm sure we'll have plenty of chairs we can use.

Yes

Park Map

Now if we have gotten the primitive sites or not, I can't answer. Considering its a .65 mile hike in, I would say no (omg, really hiking in motorcycle boots? )

regarding burn bans, park is in Van Zandt county, which is not in a burn ban. However, Kaufman, which neighbors Van Zandt is in a burn ban, so this may change. Also, we should be extra careful.

Re: Crazy Bob’s Toasty Camp out (July 27 & 28)

Reservation Details

I currently have 5 sites reserved in the Elec&Water area.

The regular tent areas were were either primitive hike-in or water only walking. Neither allowed us to park our bikes and toys near our campsite so I opted for the full fledge sites. 'sides this way we can be closer to Tango 'n Green Eyes to bum food and morning coffee.

Of the full campsites, the areas are eithe the "north" or "south" sites. I'm assuming the "south" sites are the ones closer to the lake. Specific sites are assigned on a first-come-first-served, so who ever can get there first, can find out with ones are closed to the lake and snag those for us.

The parks lately have been getting horsey about charging an extra $5 per vehicle charge in excess of 2 vehicles per site. So, getting more sites seems to cost about the same and more fair to those arriving late. As it is now, the first 10 won't have to pay the excess fee. If more of the maybes turn to fer sures or more join, I may add another site.

OK, you have been moved to the IN crown. I assume that is for both nights?
