New here in Allen Texas!

Hello, I have been riding for about 5 years and had just about every type of bike from Honda shadow to Bagger Harleys and from side car rig to Dual sport. Now my dad and I have finally settled down to a couple subtle easy going sport tourers. And old blackbird(mine) and an old bandit(pops).

Welcome to the site!

I saw that first photo and thought, "man that is a funny looking Blackbird in the background!" I used to see the Blackbirds all the time, but not too many nowadays. Everyone I've known that had one loved it. One of the regular guys at a local bike night has the red version in mint condition.'

So what was your best run on the strip?

haha.. its the streetfighter edition lol. Up untill a few months ago I've never heard of them. This is the first time I've ever took a bike down a track and third pass of the day best run of 10.83@130mph. Basically stock just lowered and pipe

Re: New here in Allen Texas!

Cool! A few years back we actually had a TWT Drag strip day at a strip somewhere up in the DFW area. I was not able to attend, but quite a few folks did with all manner of bikes. Sure looked like a lot of fun! Of course, now I don't have anything that is really worth running down the strip. My KTM would loop if I hammered the gas because it is geared so low and the big BMW is well... just BIG, hehe...

Can you believe it was 5 years ago?

It was Kennedale's strip which is only an 1/8 mile but still fun.

Re: New here in Allen Texas!

Glad to have you here. I ride a sport tourer, too, and am looking forward to lots of long rides. Only on weekends, though, as I still have to work (darnit!). I wish I was independently wealthy so I could just spend all my time riding, but alas, it just isn't so.

Welcome to the forum and glad too see 1+ dfw rider. This may be a stretch but in nrh we meet on Fridays at the burger box, and every other week we have a meet in Denton. Pie runs are a great way to meet members from across the state (and sometimes out of state).

I like the idea of a drag night. Maybe we should work it in as a bonus pie run or charity event.

Hmm know if anyone that does PC3's will be out there. I loaded a stock tune on my PC3 but for some reason it smells rather rich at idle. *sorry for thread hijack*

That be cool sometime. You have a zzr1200? When I was looking for a Blackbird, I had a hard time deciding if I wanted a zzr instead. I almost picked up a dark blue one, but just decided to stick with what I originally wanted and waited for a Bird to pop up in my price range. I bet yours pulls like a freight train.

Do you ever ride through Lucas? I know a really good route take greenville to McKinney airport then follow FM 546 all the way to Lucas Road then take Lucas to Country Club rd, turn right and follow ll the way till it spits you back out to greenville! super good and curvy.

Re: New here in Allen Texas!

Yes I have taken that road and I agree, good twisties not too far from home and makes for a nice, quick ride.

I bought the ZZR new in '05. I also was looking at the Blackbird, but none were available in the area and purchased the ZZR instead. See very few of either bike around, yet they really perform.
