EAST TX: Uncertain?Rendezvous Sidecar Rally Oct. 18-21, 2012

All sidecar enthusiasts, friends and curious folks are invited to an Uncertain?Rendezvous at Caddo Lake in Northeast Texas at the Shady Glade Resort -- another joint endeavor of the Ark-La-Tex members of the United Sidecar Association and the Texas Ural Riders Diversion of the Soviet Steeds (the T.U.R.D.'s).

There is no rally fee, but rather a pay-as-go:

The Uncertain Schedule:
(subject to continuing and last minute changes)

Thursday, October 18th:
• 5:30 Highway Safety with Irene from TxDOT
• 6:00 Tamales by Art & Rosa – $5

Friday October 19th:
• Off-Pavement Ride(s) for Urals & Dual Sports
• Lake Tours, Self-Guided Tours & Conversation
• 11:00 Ladies Lunch ride
• 6:00 Chili by Campfire Cooks Jay & Ann – $5

Saturday October 20th:
• 9:00 Group Ride/Domino Run** – $10 – including T.C. Lindsey General Store ~50 miles
• 11:00 Lunch – Own Your Own
• 3:30 Sidecar Games – Hosted by J. R. & Avanell
• 4:45 Group Photo
• 5:00 Sidecar Show
• 5:15 Awards and Door Prizes
• 6:00 Evening Dinner – $10 – by the Waskom Lions Club
• 6:30 Evening Adventure Ride – Lead by Beemer Bob ~36 miles

Yep, "imaginary" sidecars are welcome. And Caddo Lake State Park is the closest "real" campground to Uncertain ~5 miles down the road.

I attended a TURD rally with Beemerbob last year in Arkansas. It was fun. I had the pleasure of meeting another klr rider there. He is 81 years old. He is still adventure riding and camping in a tent off the back of his bike! He asked if I wanted to join him on a trip to the arctic circle this summer. Unfortunately I couldn't make it. He is one incredible gentleman.

Its soon soon for me to say I am certain. At this point, but its definitely top priority on my calendar. Of course I'll be riding down an Asian pig (vstrom 1k) so I guess I go into the imaginary/curious crowd.

Anyone know of bobs route is road DS tire safe or will I need a knobby swap first?

Bob's [was Thursday but now] Saturday evening adventure ride includes ~10 miles of county roads varying from dirt, clay, gravel & sand, passable on DS tires -- unless wet or very dry. For Friday, we will have a suggested ~100 mile loop incorporating various country roads thru eastern Harrison, Marion & Cass counties that is passable on DS tires, again unless wet or very dry. There is one sandy hill-top after the railcar bridge on CC Bridge Road northwest of Jefferson that can be tricky on large bikes if very dry -- like last year. It was OK in late May of this year.

Lyekka is being admitted to the Ural Hospital in Grand Prairie tomorrow. I think she has congestive heart failure.

Hopefully she will recover in time.

Just in case Lyekka requires a long recovery, I have a laundry basket, some marbles and some zip ties. I can strap 'em to Q and you can wear the monkey suit. C'mon, Bob! It'll be fun!!!

I called Shady Glade Resort and reserved "Cozy Cabin #6". Interestingly, they are only accepting reservations for the Rendezvous Sidecar Rally that weekend so be sure to mention that you are an attendee if you call.

Dave & Sara blocked the entire place for us thru September.
It appears we may have a couple of fellows that might split rooms/cabins if space or budget becomes tight.

6+ interconnected Paddling Trails have been established on Caddo Lake. Launch launch points with info kiosks include Shady Glade & Johnson's Ranch. We welcome paddlers to join us offset sidecarists.
