8/11 Meteor shower camp out. Meridian SP

Thinking of heading down to meridian state park sat for the meteor shower, drinks and food. Anyone interested in joining? I know its last second, but isn't that the life of a biker?

I know nuttin bout meteor showers. Is meridian sp supposed to be a good location? What time is the shower expected? Will you still be sober when that occurs?

Meteor showers are space dust / rocks hitting the atmosphere. Generally the darker the area is (further from cities), the fainter the meteor you will see. This one is supposed to top out 50+ shooting stars an hour. This one is best after midnight until dawn.

Sober? Is that a joke? Lol

Chances are I'll be in a cage as I can't expect my friend to suffer through heat on the back of my bike.

Yeah, I had the general concept of what a meteor shower was. Even back in my one classroom school days, the school marm did draw it on our little slate tablets.

What I was meaning was more specific info about this shower. Are you sure we will be able to see it from this part of the state? Is it expected to be a specific time frame? Are you camping at Meridian SP or just looking at stars and then heading back?

I'm not sure I will camp (I am about 15 min from my a/c house), but I'll stop by and visit and drink all your OJ.

Meteor showers are a global event. This one favors the northern hemisphere. Its not expected at a set time. Tues-wed already proved to be pretty good and maximum is tomorrow night. We intend to camp, however this will be her first camping experience so that may change given various circumstances

Re: Meteor shower camp out.

In case you don't have it. I am PM'ing you my contact info.

Call or text or email when you have a site number and I'll come disturb your privacy sometime in the evening.

BTW: On the way to the park from meridian, there is a small but very nice road side park on the north side of the road. Nice view of the valley and may have a better view of the sky than from the park.

Mr Stick. This event still going to happen (you going to meridian sp, not the meteors). If so, about what time you thinking of being at the park?

Most folks use the term "hangover", but if you want to call it a "fever", that's ok by me.

Re: Meteor shower camp out.

You didn't mention a date.

2012 Perseids Meteor Shower is supposed to be August 11.
In previous years it has been as early as August 8-9...

Re: 8/11 Meteor shower camp out. Meridian SP

most guys use this anual meteor shower to get unsuspecting women to go lay out under the stars so they can show them their rocks, not a bunch of other guys!!!

Ha ha. She's just a friend and I am trying to show her that a world exists outside of the city.
