Offroad riders?

Anyone up in north Texas ride offroad? We go to Red River and up in Oklahoma but can't find anyone in our area that rides offroad. They all do mx. I'm 43 and have given up mx since I have to work for a living. I ride a '12 250XC and my son rides a '09 125SX. Let me know.

Re: Offroad riders?

Rachel and I both ride up at Red River all the time (when it isn't 100 degrees out).

Re: Offroad riders?

Yea, we do most of our riding in the fall and winter. I've tried to get some of the guys from the local mx track to ride offroad but all they say is it sounds like fun and they would like to try it but they never do. Guess we'll have to start making more trips to Red River.

Re: Offroad riders?

I'm in far North Tarrant County (near Texas Motor Speedway). I'm new to the area but am almost always up for a ride. My off road bike is a 300 XC-W. My dual sport bike is a 950 SE. PM me your number and email.

I can ride this weekend (8-11& 8-12). Marshall Creek or elsewhere will work.

Thanks,

Jeff

Re: Offroad riders?

I live in Saginaw and my preferred place to ride is Red River. If my weekends are free I am usually up for a ride (Sat or Sun). The extreme heat has deterred me a little but if others are willing to brave it, I'm up for it. Just post something here or PM me. About the time the temps start to come down kids soccer ramps up so in the fall and spring Sundays are usually easier for me to make a ride.

Re: Offroad riders?

I'm in Tyler an looking for riding buddies. I got my first bike after I turned 30 so I'm not into big jumps and extreme MX. I have ridden Barnwell Mountain a lot and enjoy riding there. Would anyone be interested in riding the first weekend of October?

Re: Offroad riders?

I may be up for Barnwell that weekend. Gonna try to ride either this weekend. Either Cloudy, Ok or Red River.

Re: Offroad riders?

If anyone wants to go into ar, somewhere like WPG, I am ready. I wouldn't mind Barnwell, but it is pricy and I don't want to get an off road sticker.

Re: Offroad riders?

At $3.59 a gallon, Arkansas is way more spendy than anything close to home. Plus with Red River only 100 miles away from me, it is really hard to go any further.

Re: Offroad riders?

I've been to WPG also many times but didn't make it up there any last year. Wouldn't mind going back but the riding gets kinda boring. Most of the trails are pretty wide. I enjoy the camping with my buddies and the party at night just a much as the riding. I'm just ready to ride. Its been a hot summer.

Re: Offroad riders?

I wouldn't mind trying Barnwell sometime. I know Red River is a little further for you if you live in Tyler, but if you ever want to ride there let me know. I have a membership there so I can bring a guest for a discounted fee I believe.

Red River is 4 hrs from my house according to Googlemaps. I have heard that its a lot of fun to ride so I'll have to make it a weekend trip sometimes soon. I can be at Barnwell in an hour and I plan on riding there the weekend after next which is the 6th. I'm looking forward to it, I haven't ridden Barnwell in a while.

It can be a good place to go if you know where to go. I've taken a couple riders out there on their WRr's that were new'ish to offroad and they did very well. But if you don't know where to go, you can get into some pretty deep sand or some pretty rocky stuff that will make your day not fun in a hurry.

I'm working this weekend, but maybe the weekend after if you are free I could go up there with you and show you around. I've been going for close to 10 years now and while I still don't know everywhere in the park, I know where not to go....LOL

Thanks for the offer Bill. Can I take a rain check on that offer? I need to buy a carrier for the back of my suv first. I don't think I can ride it that far without a different seat.

And you don't want to ride to Red River anyway. You never know what will happen when you ride off road and having to ride your bike back in after a shift lever or clutch lever bends or breaks is never a fun thing.

Just shoot me a PM when you want to go and I will see if we can make it happen.

Let's ride RRMT -9/29

Though there is a chance of rain, it looks like Saturday (9/29) temperatures will be in the mid seventies. PM me if you're interested in riding RRMT (Red River Motorcycle Trails) this weekend.
