Re: Beyond Epic 5 - Ozark Rally, Aug 31 - Sep 3, 2012

The Plan: Check in on Friday evening, 5pm – 7 pm Aug 31, 2012 in the parking lot of the Day’s Inn, Clarksville, AR. Ride all day Saturday and Sunday. Head home on Monday
I get that part, I will be up there early, Friday AM 9-10 I understand I'm the newbee, I would like the opportunity meet, greet and ride. I'f you have early riders meet us here on Friday ? or contact us how?, New Riders Welcome we will be here?

Re: Beyond Epic 5 - Ozark Rally, Aug 31 - Sep 3, 2012

My plan is to head out from work on Thursday and spend the night on the way. Still don't know if I'll be riding the BMW or driving the trucl with the DR. On Friday, if on the BMW, I will be hitting scenic roads on the way up. I suspect I'll be in Clarksville by 2pm. If i. The truck, I'll be there earlier. I doubt I'll bring both bikes. I do have an offer of a ride share too that I'm considering.

Basically, if the weather isn't going to be too hot, I'm leaning towards rding up.

reddog,

There isn't a formal riders meeting on Friday morning. However, a number of riders always show up early (Thur evening) in order to have an extra day of riding on Friday. All you need do is show up in the Day's Inn parking lot Friday morning and say hello. The group is friendly and you shouldn't have difficulty finding someone to ride with. Most riders head out between 8:30 - 9:30 am.

Why did your avatar picture change? Those are BMW headlights, K1600 ones. I'm on a loaner K1200LT today. Not a bad ride for the highway. Bit sluggish on the gas, but very smooth engine and ride.

Re: Beyond Epic 5 - Ozark Rally, Aug 31 - Sep 3, 2012

If I can make the entire drive on Thursday then I will be ready to ride all day friday too...Im bringing my Roadstar Silverado and Girlfriend along for some paved adventure riding and we would like to ride north friday, then IM going to do the dirty dualsporting on saturday in the forest on my DR650 and then go south on the cruiser on Sunday down to Quachita national forest and generally do some sightseeing and getting in as much fun as possible.
We havent made a hotel choice just yet but there is a motel 6 just a few miles away from the days inn.
IM pretty sure we are gonna blast out of SA early thursday and try to make it all the way thursday so we will be rested and ready to go friday morning...there are alot of great roads to run and alot of gorgeous scenery to see....and alot of new friends to make...

Re: Beyond Epic 5 - Ozark Rally, Aug 31 - Sep 3, 2012

Yee freakin Haw....we just got a room at the Days Inn for 4 nights...so we will definately be there thursday night, rest up and ready to ride on Friday morning...I will be looking to ride one of Richards suggested rides...maybe with a little tweaking...all day Friday....We will be riding double so it will be a slower pace in the tight twisty's but we would like to cover 150 to 250 miles, stop and check out the neat stuff and eat at some cool restaurants...

We will be looking to ride with anyone that wants to ride on Friday and will be down in the lobby for a riders meeting on Fridaay morning around 8:30ish....Also planning out the dirt ride on Saturday is a priority to me. IM down with class 3 stuff as long as my old body and bike will hold up....
anyone can call me with questions or comments....210-392-7980...

Is there only one day of dirt DS stuff? I am not interested in any street riding for big bikes. Anyone going for DS only or am I the only one. Need to know before I make final plans. Thanks.

One option is to purchase the Ozark ride guide - it has GPX tracks for all the routes in the guide. Plus it includes paper maps of the national forest.

Additionally, you might search ADV Rider - there were some AR routes posted on there that could be downloaded.

I do have the ride guide. But I've only flipped thru it. I don't remember seeing a CD or something like that.
