Looks nice. Any comparison to the Yamaha WR250R?

Re: 250L At Dealers Now

compared to the WR250R the Honda is:
power - less
suspension - less
seat height - less
ground clearance - less
weight - much more
price - much much less

Re: 250L At Dealers Now

I'm pretty sure this would make an extraordinary 'city bike'. I have the 450x for serious dirt work and 'rides for glory'.

My NX250 has very similar specs, with about the same power but a springy, blown out suspension, and I have so much fun tossing it around my little town I think that anything bigger would be pointless. Yeah, it's not the most fun to ride long distance on the freeway, but that's not what I would want it for.

This would also be a great training bike for the younguns.

Would benefit more from a diet. 320 lbs for a 250cc dual sport is outrageous to me. There are some big bore dual sports that weigh less.

Joel I think your old NX might be the better bike between the two. 25 lbs lighter is a big plus for off road riding and that lighter weight will take you a couple ticks faster with the same power output.

Re: 250L At Dealers Now

I see the wet weight at 320lbs. Dry weight should be well below 300. Not uncommon to see dry weights posted, so make sure you are comparing apples to apples...

I thought the WR250 came in around 320 ready to roll? Has anybody actually weighed one?

Looks like it weighs the same as the Yamaha to me.

Re: 250L At Dealers Now

If the specs are the same as they were before the bike actually came out, it looked a whole like like a Yamaha with red plastic in terms of weight and HP.

Similar performance as WR250R, but $2000 less. Looks like a winner.

Re: 250L At Dealers Now

WR250R dyno at about 24whp while the CBR250R dynos at about 22whp. This CRF250L has a detuned CBR250R motor but I have not seen a dyno from a reliable source yet.
The CRF250L should compare better against the KLX250S, while the WR250R is a step above these two. The big question is can you get the CRF comparable to WR with the $2k you save.

WR250R is spec'd 295 lbs wet. Yamaha explains their wet weight includes all standard equip, all fluids, oils, coolant and a full tank of gas.

Honda specs the 320 lbs as curb weight, which by definition should be exactly the same as Yamaha's wet.

So for comparison then:
295 lbs / 24 hp = 12.29 per hp
320 lbs / 22 hp = 14.55 per hp

Thats almost a 20% difference in weight per hp.

Now I still like the Honda and think it has its place but it is not a red Yamaha IMO nor does it have the price tag of one either as I clearly stated.
