Re: The 2007 Suzuki Bandit 1250S -The Mega Thread

In checking today, I saw where my 07 Bandit with a corrected 66,000 plus miles on it was showing me that the Throttle positioning sensor must of got pretty hot. The plastic on the outside was fairly sticky like you would find overheating plastic. Any one notice this on thiers.

Re: The 2007 Suzuki Bandit 1250S -The Mega Thread

Saw some discussion about wind reduction a while ago and have this to share.

I have a basic helmet (HJC, CL-16) and thought all was good, although when I would get up higher speeds I could feel a slight lifting pull on my head due to wind over the round shell. This year I got a racing helmet with a spoiler (Bell, Star)and my head just slips though the air at any speed. Now I ride the HJC when street riding and the Bell when ever I plan on getting fast as on the highway. I also have a Double Bubble windscreen from Holeshot that gets the wind over my shoulders. Anyway, I was surprised what a difference the helmet made.

The helmet does make a big difference, both the shape of the shell and how it fits you, also a jacket that is worn can affect helmet buffeting. Glad to hear that you like the Bell Star, I went with the less expensive route and bought the Bell Vortex, still pretty good at speed.

I think I read somewhere that the 08 GSX650F uses the same motor design as an older Katana model and there may be cams that are interchangeable between the two.

Is there anyone that can confirm this? I wouldn't mind running after market cams in my GSXF at all.

I also got the Scorpion. Its a good helmet, but the thing that imprsses me the most is the quality of the face shield. Most helmets at some place on the shield distort vision slightly. Neither the original or the smoke shield I got have any distortion that I can see. It's also a lot quieter than my HJC.

Re: The 2007 Suzuki Bandit 1250S -The Mega Thread

I put 600+ miles on the Bandit over the last 4 days. It seems like the limiting factor in my rides comes down to the stock seat. I got the sheepskin cover and that helped a lot but still gets tough to ride more than an hour and a half at a time. Guess it's time to invest in a better seat. I have only heard of 2 options. Sargeant and Corbin. Does anyone else make a seat for 2007 Bandits?

there's a few that modify a stock seat and that's the cheapest option. I sat on a corbin and kept my stock seat but after sitting on a sargent I bought one the next day and I squeek when I walk.....and my only regret is waiting till 36k because I wished I did it at 1.00 mile.

Re: The 2007 Suzuki Bandit 1250S -The Mega Thread

First thing I did to my bike was get rid of that stock seat, it ain't comfortable, and I don't want a passenger hugging on to me for dear life, so I wanted a backrest for #2 (the backrest is also where I connect my backback when I carry it). I got a Corbin Holeshot. It feels like a bucket seat and it puts me about an inch lower which for my 6' height with a long body is good geometry, although the extra seat width actually extends the foot length to the ground. I'm not a road warrior--I've never gone more than about 250 mi in a day--but my butt has never been anything but comfortable when riding.

If money is no object and you want the very best touring saddle available, go with a custom made Russell Day Long (RDL). You can literally ride all day long (8 hours, 14 hours, whatever) with no buttache at all with the RDL. It's only downside is that you're stuck in one seating position so no sliding around in it to hang off in corners. I had this saddle on another bike and it was fantastic. I once did a 950 mile day on it and no rear end pain.

Your experience with the stock Bandit seat was mine as well. The first thing I did after experiencing the OEM torture rack was to get a Sargent. It's not as comfortable as the RDL during those really long rides but I can ride in it all day long and it makes a better all purpose saddle than the RDL. Also had a Sargent on a VFR and I could do really long days with it.

Dumb things not to do while on tour. Stick a wet Alaskan sheepskin seat cover in the microwave with just a min of heat to help dry it. Verdict, it shrivels up to about 1/2 the size it was and if you try to use it Monkey Rash fast.
Cobin Gunfighter and a Lady is the seat I've been having on the Bandit for the last 60,000 miles. Lower than stock a little, but still has just a touch of forward slope to it. I wonder if the Sargent is flatter? Wet black leather gloves that are pretty wet, 30 secs to help them dry, wrong move , kinda shruck one. But , really didn't like the gloves from the git go. Felt good in the shop but 6 hrs down the road, not very comfortable. Replaced them with a 10 buck set of pig skin work gloves and a happy camper. The Sheepskin, saved it for cleaning bugs off the windhield.

I miss riding. The wife has taken and hidden the keys to the gun safe. I am having withdrawals something fierce. Ya'll enjoy this beautiful weather. It looks like I'll get to ride around turkey day if I'm lucky.

+1. It can seem like an eternity. Until just recently I was unable to ride for about 3 years with the exception of a couple of months in the middle of that period. Sux bad is about all I can say about it. Hope I never have to become a full time cager again.

re: seats

My previous bike [Kawa C14] came with the stock seat and a heated Corbin G&L. Sent the stocker off to Spencer after taking lots of pix per their website. When it came time to ride cross-country, the Spencerized was the easy choice. Of course my skinny wife loved the heated G&L; it only went on when she rode pillion.

For the Bandit, found a good deal on a used Sargent right after purchase. It's about comparable comfort-wise to the Spencerized C14 seat. If you're height-challeneged [30" inseam] like me, the low version is a big bonus.

Spencer is definitely the choice for the budget-minded. As with windscreens, you mat have to try a few options before you get the right one.

I had 3 seats for my '07 DL 1000 and never had the right one for everything. A standard Corbin , A Corbin with a nose job and a little taken out to lower it, and a Rick Myers seat. None of them were the perfect all around seat as the Leather Corbins I had on my '95 and '02 BMW R11** GS bikes. So far. on the Bandit, I've only done the Corbin. It's good but not super great. May check Spencer out. Thanks, had forgot about him.
