Re: mark your calendars!

Who's going to add their name to the permanent trophy? Got the course setup today. Going to be a good one.

I'm considering coming out for this! Might want to put me down as a C rider though, or a really out of sync B...

Re: mark your calendars!

I'm possibly interested in this event.

Questions:
  • Entrance to the park is $40 for both days and then another $25 to participate?
  • Outlaw membership or other (TON, TRH, Torcs, etc) is required?
  • Transponder thingy required?
  • My bike has numbers but arbitrarily assigned by myself. Are numbers required? Are numbers supplied or available at event or must I preassign and install myself?
Would it be acceptable/adviseable for me to enter the Ironman class if I wasn't really competitive? I'm not a rated rider, haven't entered a race in 37 years and average skills at best. I'm looking at this more of an 4 hr endurance fun ride/challenge than a race. Will I get in others way? I don't plan to come in last (hoping for DNF's behind me, haha) but won't be pushing my limits to place either.

The fees (I'm checking to be sure, be patient if I'm wrong) are one or the other. You can pay for one day or 40 for both including the race.

No memberships.

No scoring equipment, we use wrist bands that you trade off every lap.

Therefore #'s on bike won't matter. we'll put a piece of ductape on front with your team #.

As far as ironman, your call. But you won't be in the way, you're the type guy we hope comes out! And first timers wanting to see what racing is all about! just give a faster rider a little room and they'll be gone. we get pretty spread out over the course of the event.

Hope this helps.

Re: mark your calendars!

Thanks Pops, all good info.
I read the flyer also to be $40 for both days including the event but wanted to make sure. I'm definitely a cheapskate but even for me the extra $25 wouldn't be unreasonable. I've wanted to ride at Outlaw for a long time and never seem to be available on their open house days and don't know anybody rich enough to be a member so I can tag along. haha

Re: mark your calendars!

Just to throw in my .02 worth. . . This is a great event and it will be some of the most fun you have ever wore yourself out for. I've seen some of the riders that were completely wore out and they couldn't get the grin off their face afterwards. I've seen very few that were ready to do more after the event but there are some that are looking for another lap or three. The time inbetween laps while you are waiting on your teammate are almost as much fun as the riding. The skill levels (one of each level per team) of the different riders are what helps make this a fun event.

One thing that really helps is the person laying out the course, he is one of, if not the best in the area if not the state for laying out great courses. He might not admit it but he is what makes this so much fun. So be sure and come out to see what you are missing.

For those in the Waco area that ride Crooked Creek. . . Come see what the Piney Woods have to offer, you will have a blast!

Re: mark your calendars!

I am trying to find an excuse to make this. I just dont want to race the Ironman class. So if anyone is looking for a team member let me know. I think of myself as a B class rider.

We just need an A rider. Or we can get a D rider and all class up. I got a beginner buddy down in Houston. I am gonna see if he got his forks fixed. He might be able to join us. But it will be his first race. I dont see any trophy girls in our future. But when I get home, the story is gonna include one. ha ha

I will hit him later this week, and post up if he can join us.

No you didn't miss it. lol, I just finished the course yesterday. Obviously the time will vary by ability but a fast "C" or slow "B" will be in the 20 minute range. I could go longer but with a smaller group if laps are too long you'll be riding all day by yourself. This gives everybody about 1 lap per hour and the first rider out will get an extra lap on most teams.
