Re: Street Fighter????
Enough to make me never want to own one. This was a few years ago, but AMS quoted me $600 every 6000 miles on the older version of the Monster.

Re: Street Fighter????
Givi makes a variety of aftermaket mini and sorta mini screens. Like others have said, pros and cons to both. Around town, short day trips, warm weather-no screen was great for me. Multi-day long trips, colder weather-a screen was nice.

Re: Street Fighter????
5'6" and 200 lbs. about 80% of my riding is back and forth to work. the other 20% is "spirited". i dont have any problems. i would say go ride one and see what you think. you might like it you might not but at least you have first hand knowledge which really helps in a decision making process.

Re: Street Fighter????
Ain't that the truth. Supposedly the new EVO engines are supposed to be a bit better on maintenance then the older Desmo version. Just had our 7500 mile service done on the Hyper....about $800 for just valves and belts. Took them about 2 weeks.

Re: Street Fighter????
Dang... My lil ninjette only cost $1k... No way I'll do $500-$800 every 6500 miles... I guess the monster is off the list.

Re: Street Fighter????
The short list now looks like this:
1st 2011 FZ8 (I think I can get a new left over bike for a very good price. The power is a big +) 2nd 2010 Truimph Street Triple (If I can get a good price, I'll jump all ove it. Not sure if I can trust myself on this one. It might be to much sport for me.) 3rd 2012 Ninja 650r (Great mpg, and very cheap to keep. i think I can get a very good deal on a new one.) 4th 2012 ER 6N (Only if I talk myself out of the FZ8 because of the mpgs) |

I like the fact that the FZ8, and the Triple are rare bikes with great style. I just might keep my 250 for my mpg, value bike. |

Re: Street Fighter????
I saw a 2012 FZ8 in the new gray matte color and other than the suspension
everyone keeps talking about (I am heavy even for my Ninja 6), I would love to have one. For some reason the 2011 in black just looks to plain. If I could snag a 2011 Street Triple R in the same matte as the 2012 Fz8 that would be a dream. I saw a street triple R in Red last week with the down arrow exhaust ($1200) and it looked amazing with the Ohlins suspension and all. Then I go ride my 2012 650 Ninja and fall in love with its Intake howl (my airbox has intake boots and frame covers removed) and its 50mpg "eco light" again. By the way, I love the naked look of the ER6, but for 2012 it is only in Europe and Canada |

The yellow ER 6N would be sweet, but it's not in the states. Everyone has the blue ER 6N. You don't see a lot of FZ8, and Street Tripels. |

Re: Street Fighter????
A yellow 2012 ER6N would be sweet. I am thinking about ordering the Canadian
Body work pieces (including the front headlight cowl) in yellow if my Ninja pieces ever get damaged. I have not taken any pictures but I need to because from the front side of the bike you can see daylight through the air box where the rubber snorkles once were now that I have removed the plastic side pieces from the frame. My next task is to fabricate ram air tubes from the front fairing directly into the air box. Once at speed, the air through the front fairing sides would be forced directly into the air box like the old Zx-7... That would be really cool and maybe worth 2HP. |

Re: Street Fighter????
And we have a winner... I have a deal on a 07 FZ6 with 7k on the clock. The owner will be back in town next week and I should have my bike next weekend. I know it's not a steet fighter, but it's a good deal for me.
Before I started this hunt, I didn't realy care for the street fighter. After all my research on mid size bikes, the street fighter is very high on my list of bikes that I'd like to own. The FZ1, Street Triple R, Shiver, and yes even a Monster(and all it's service $$$), are all bikes that I'll try to own over the years to come. Thanks everyone for all your help. This has been a blast. I'll post photos asap. |

Re: Street Fighter????
I have a kitted up Tuono and 1000 miles in a weekend would be no problem. It drinks gas like an alcoholic step mother though. And you don't have to adjust the valves every 7500 miles for a paltry sum of $800 either (my little dig about Ducati's).
