SOLD: well sorted 2001 Yamaha FZ1 - $3300 - College Station
I've spent the better part of 2012 getting this FZ1 its proper form. The bike has 25k miles, but goes up as it is ridden a couple of times a week. Only reason for selling it is that I had so much fun building it, I want to do it again on something different.
In the past 6 weeks I have had a blast refreshing it with fresh paint (it is the dark blue from the 2011-2012 Porsche 911 paint code) and three coats of clear coat. Color sanded, cut, and polished to a shine. Also added some essential goodies for a bike of this type: Pulled the carbs - rejetted for Texas elevations (130s), cleaned and balanced them. The 4 Degree engine advancer from ELS was installed to compliment the jetting, and really wake the bike up. Installed new GYTR lower riser, and Suburban Machinery Handlebars for a sportier feel. Pro grip grips and tank gripper pad added for solid control in the twisties. Also added a yoshi slip on pipe, subtle at idle, and a good mean 1000cc growl when throttle is opened up. The bike has new Michelin Pilot Road 3 tires with approximately 1k miles on them. RK 530XSO Chain (riveted master link) & Steel 16/44 (factory gearing) Sprocket Kit was added at same time. Stock front and rear brake lines were swapped in favor of Galfer stainless lines with matching blue jackets. Front lines are a two line kit. New EBC HH pads installed. Added matching shorter Pazzo adjustable clutch and brake levers with dark blue selector lever. Some photos of course (keen observers will note a missing bar end - a replacement will be in and on tomorrow): ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() There are a few things in wait for the bike that can be included to the buyer for additional fee. If not, I will sell these separately: -Chin fairing painted to match - I am waiting on two brackets to come in from the seller that I am missing and then I'll put them on -National Cycle touring wind screen $55 -SW Motech rack w/quick release plate plate for generic soft luggage $75 -Frame sliders $25 -R6 shock kit drop in replacement for this FZ1 w/ yellow spring $150 -Bikemaster Daytona handlebars with inserts welded to take OE bar ends Ram Mount not included... Price reduced after further research - $3300 |

Bump - ideal trades include supersport 600s or sport tourers.

Looks like you've done a really nice job on this one. Had an '02 that I liked and made some of the same changes on it, plus a slight change to the gearing that made it an incredible ride.
Gig em!

GLWTS. Considering that I just bought my 2nd FZ1 a couple of months ago, I'm not in the market for your bike. However, I am interested in the windshield. What size is the National Cycle touring screen?

To anyone who is looking at this bike, get his R6 shock kit while you're at it. It significantly improved the handling of my '02 FZ1 and is quite easy to install. You'll take curves feeling like you're very well planted.
GLWS. My youngest son just bought mine from me (my garage was getting a bit crowded). He loves this smooth-riding and fun Yammie roadster.

I'll be driving my brother-in-law (Carpenter1976) to Bryan to pick this up.

Re: SOLD: well sorted 2001 Yamaha FZ1 - $3300 - College Station
Thanks Nick. Jared messaged me that evening that he got back to Tyler in good order, the bike ran great, his butt wasn't sore, and he's quite pleased.
I'll bet he'll be even more pleased once I get back from Houston with his R6 shock and we get it installed.
