Re: What's Your Best Mod

After trying out a 22" National Cycle windshield, putting my Zero Gravity/Laminar Lip combo back on the bike sure made me move it up in grading my modifications to my Bandit.

The ride is much better. The high speed corners are easily and the comfort on a bad road is much much better. That kind of roads do we have here plenty.

Re: What's Your Best Mod

Hmm... the best mod for me so far would be the superbike handlebar (ABM), the little optional flip up screen (MRA) i mounted and my Yoshimura oval. A little titanium here and there for the looks (spares i had from my former bikes) and some other things like bellypan (Puig) and cox radiator gard.

The gel cushion isn,t bad either. The garmin 220 helps find my way in Europe.....

Spencer seat mod. I wouldn't be able to spend as much time riding without it. Next is the set of Rox Risers.

Re: What's Your Best Mod

Pondering on the question. Again! I'm thinking that, for me, there was really no BEST MOD. It was a combination of mods that transformed my Bandit into the mile eating machine I have today. Seat, windshields, rox risers, footpeg rotation, sheep skin.
And, of course, having my '00 KLR back has really cut into Bandit time locally.

Re: What's Your Best Mod

Those who have flipped the footpegs and shortened the shift lever ( Achesley ?? ) is there any downside to shortening the shift lever such as too much extra effort required due to shorter lever etc. ?

Probably my favorite mod is either the Sargent seat or the MRA Vario Screen for comfort and the Bags Connection Daypack tank bag ( mounted to fuel filler, no contact with paint ) for sheer convenience.

.
After cutting about an inch off the shift lever and adjusting it so my foot would fit better. It was no extra trouble at all. You get used to it in a hurry. Course Metric can build you a shorter better looking one.

Re: What's Your Best Mod

Thanks Achesley - I've picked up a spare lever which I plan to shorten by about 20mm (3/4") to see if it works for me - maybe I should go a full inch ?

If I can get a good result that looks OK I'll leave it be but if the end result works well but looks bad I'll contact Scott to make me something professionally.

Re: What's Your Best Mod

Heck, try the 3/4 " , may work for you. I had drilled a small hole at the 3/4 and 1 inch marks and inserted a nail through them to see what it would do with my size 12 riding books. The 1 worked out better. Then I cut the lever, drilled and tapped the hole at 1" , dressed out a bolt and re-installed, re-adjusted. That was pret near 40,000 miles ago. .
oh yes, I got the idea from Scotty ( Metrick Metal ) . Think he was the first to do this footpeg lowering mod.

Took the awful fairing off my 1200s. It is now a 1200n.

from this:

to this:

No more buffeting around the head. Didn't matter what type of screen I had it still was a real pain in the neck.

Ditto. 8/27/11 I bought a 2008 1250 with only 4,800 miles on it. Naked conversion, and nearly the entire Holeshot catalog already thrown at it. I am now in the process of upgrading to an HID headlight and LED turn signals. And new plugs. One day a seat.
