Does anyone in the north group have the latest GPS routes?
I rode from Rusk to Beens and must have NOT had the latest route because I wound up on private property. The owner said the road had been close for 30 years, and it looked it!

I think every one is meeting and leaving out at the KOA.? right? Has any one called to see if you can leave your vehicles there? I'm riding in Fri morn. and won't have a veh. AND the chase vehicle... will it be leaving from the north or south??? will one group be with out???
I dont mind leading a slow or medium group because I want to stop alot to take pic's.
or maybe because of that I need to trail a group!

Anyway the ride last sat. was awesome! DUST WAS WAY DOWN! hope it stay's that way. (yea right!)

Which tracks did you use? These from last year? I must admit I did a fair amount of following and not watching the GPS, but I never saw a big deviation.

Yea I loaded the wrong one this last weekend. I think it was 2010, not sure, deleted it.

Hey Travis,

I am doing the one-day this year. Between work and building a new house, time is really limited and I was doing good to even make the EasTex this year. Hopefully I will see you in Rusk.

We will have support from the south and still working on the north. Any volunteers ??????

Taztzu (Travis) is working on getting the northern riders together.
He should be posting here real soon. Work was a problem for him but he appears to have worked it out.

I won't be following ya'll, but I will have a truck and trailer at Rusk. If something happens on Sunday on the last leg for the North Start group, I can probably be convinced to come pick up a bike or bike parts.

I would like to ride this with the northern rusk group if you don't mind a greenhorn on this ride.

Is anyone from the DFW area doing the 3 day ride that would be willing to ride to rusk with me Thursday after 5 pm? This will be my first ever long distance ride and would like a vet to kindly show me the ropes.

Rawhide you and any other first timers are welcome. Just read the thread for expected conditions, camping etc.

I think TAZTZU will be leaving Frisco about that time. PM him and setup a meet.

That is a great bike for this ride. Just be sure you have some 50/50 dual sport tires or better. Depending on amount of rain prior to the ride you might find some deep sand. Have you ever ridden that bike in sand yet? That might be your biggest worry.

Rawhide, this is not a bad ride for a beginning. You may want to look at this thread as it has some photos of the roads in their worst conditions. Sand is easy, just sit back, let the bike go and don't get to worried if it slides around a little. (Okay, that's easier said than done.)

Take at least a front tube (can be used on either wheel in a pinch), irons and a way to air a tire up. It's likely that someone in the group will have all this during the ride, but if you don't have it, you will get the flat when no one is around. Fix-A-Flat is a poor substitute. Beyond the stock tool kit a waterman pocket tool is handy.
