Not in one stretch due to the driver/rider changes.

Two tires, full fuel, rider change... in under 20 seconds. Wow.

Shadows are getting long. It must be hard riding into those corners with the sun right in their face.

Yes that race is great.I always wanted to watch "for real"a nascar race, and in 2006 I was in daytona for the Daytona 500.My dream came true!I was in paradise:V8 engines were screaming, and the national anthem before the race gave me tears in my eyes.My wife had bought the tickets 2 months before and it was a surprise.

Re: LE MANS

I've never been to a Nascar race, just not the type of racing that I care about. The only "big" races that I have been to is the F1 race in Dallas (1984) and the last Indy F1 race (2007). Mostly I have been to club/pro sports car races in Oklahoma (Hallett),
When they ran the Trans-Am races at Hallett (in the 80's) the V-8's sounded great pounding around the track. Had friends racing motorcycles at Hallett and have been to a few up here in Colorado this year with some friends, their last race is this weekend at Pikes Peak International Raceway, a roval track that had some lower level Nascar races along with AMA races for many years. Before we moved to Colorado this year we were about 20 miles from the new track in Austin.

As far as other races in Europe, I want to see races at Spa and Monza which just had the F1 races the past two weekends.

It would be worth it to go just once.

Indeed. Stand down close to the fence when the herd goes thundering past at 190+ mph and feel the wall of air that is being pushed along. I've seen people knocked down by the force. It's quite impressive.

Re: LE MANS

I've always thought of drag racing as a sport for people who like to work on motors. The race is over too soon.

Re: LE MANS

I am really looking forward to Trans Am and ALMS combining next year. I enjoy all motor sports, of course I have my favs. I also enjoy catching old footage of racing whenever it comes up.

I stumbled across an adventurecross motorcycle race the other day, really enjoyed it.

IMHO, I would enjoy Speed TV a lot more if they would just show racing from around the world and let the NASCAR Nation theme shows go away.

Just for the record, the wife and I went to Texas a few years ago and watched a weekend of NASCAR trucks and Indy Cars. We had a blast.

Yeah, it's pretty much a motor-head sport. It's amazing how much money the pro racers will spend on a motor/transmission/rear end mod to get .05 seconds more speed. My brother raced back in the days of Green Valley Raceway up DFW way and I've loved drag racing ever since.

But to me, drag racing is more "common man" racing than NASCAR or some rallye event. Kids (and I don't mean that age-wise) still drag race on the streets today but you don't see bootleggers still running down the beaches of Daytona.

I'm just the opposite. I used to think NASCAR was tied to the common man. We had a local stock car 1/4 mile oval with entry levels that just about anyone could get in to. Several higher stock car circuits leading up to the big league. Of course when they went to the "car of tomorrow" it really lost any pretense of stock cars behind. I would love if they went back to racing the body that you can buy at the local dealer. Decals do not make a stock car.
