Re: Anyone have experience with Re-cycles in Dallas?

I certainly hope this thread does not hurt what I believe may otherwise be a good business. That is the one thing I do hate about the internet. Words are damaging but they don't cost the writer anything.

The only actual face-to-face evidence we have indicates that they are probably a good business. The only item to the contrary is a phone conversation with someone at that business who could not find a bike? Some one else at that shop may have sold that unit, papers pulled and gone out of the door by another person. So, for that we condemn a company as being shady? That's more than a little harsh.

We as writers we should be careful what we post. One day it could be one of our businesses someone is trashing, or worse yet - something damaging about us personally.

Just saying....

Re: Anyone have experience with Re-cycles in Dallas?

I'm not trying to jack my own thread and I will up front admit that I have not heard anything bad about them short of one online review (which the business itself came on and defended their actions).

With regards to location (and this is speaking as a former cop who used to work in the Maryland/DC area among other places), I'm always a *little* on the look out when I see places located in what I generically refer to as the "hood". I also spend about 6 hours a day Mon - Fri driving in and around south Dallas (yay me). That obviously doesn't the business is bad because of location, but for anyone who spends anytime driving around south Dallas, you'll notice all sorts of used car/bike shops on just about every street corner. Doesn't necessarily mean they are bad either, but where would rather shop at? A nice looking store front or the somewhat shady looking place in a questionable neighborhood? Potential customers are going to look at that as a possible indicator of the type of place it is - right or wrong. I remember an old Harley dealer that used to be in my policing area - their sales were always lower and their business slower than other dealers because of their location. Nobody wanted to deal with having to go through the hood (and possibly get carjacked on the way) just to look at bikes. Obviously others could care less about all of that as long as they get a good deal. There is always the possibility that the shady place is way better than the nice one too - I knew a place in Utah like that.

As of right this second, I haven't heard anything that would necessarily stop me from checking them out or buying a bike from them. I'm used to being in those types of areas, so I can deal with that too. But I do think it's something some people look at when they're out shopping around - right or wrong.

Hey shop where you want but that wasn't what I refereed to. It wasn't someone saying they didn't want to go into the area it was some saying that they might be crooked. Big difference

Yeah, I've been watching my own company (I'm not the owner, middle management) being trashed on facebook by a former customer who is telling complete lies and fabrications and of course all of her facebook friends are lock step, because if a customer SAYS it, it must be true, right? It's like the commercial with the French Model.... Bonjour.

It's like the old saying - someone with a bad experience will tell a hundred people whereas someone with a positive experience will tell five (or however it went). That's also the problem with social media nowadays - within minutes, someone's mindless ranting, video, etc. can end up being seen/heard by thousands of people. Oh well.......
