Re: WR250R Thread

This post has gone cold. Guess all the WRR's are out riding! So thought I would give this a bump.

I did a 2600 mile trip in July on my WRR. About 2000 of those were off pavement. We camped most of the time. The WRR did great!

Here is the trip report on ADV. And a few pics below.

Re: WR250R Thread

Very nice ride report.

I just back from Salida and met several WR 250 R riders from Texas. One guy had ridden all the way from Padre Island
( WOW!!)

Looks like a great ride and fantastic adventure

Re: WR250R Thread

I have been thinking of buying a WR 250 ever since Cloudcroft over the labor day holiday. Wound up on the trail with two of them and by all appearances a solid dual sport. Thanks for the info!

Well, I just don't get the opportunity to use the little WRR like I want, so it's out on the market if y'all know of anyone interested....

PM user sodapop from the Billy's lunch group in Austin. He is looking for a WR. He tried a DR but it was too tall for him. He might consider lowering links on the WR.

Re: WR250R Thread

I haven't been riding mine as much as I would like... But....

It rolled through 13,000 on the odometer in New Mexico last week.

Not long after that shot our bikes got rinsed, along with us.

The canyons we had ridden south through before the storm were very intersting on the return trip north. they had flash flooded.

Pretty deep mud with rocks suspended for fun.

Cake for a WR and easy peasy on that DR too.

Am I missing something here? A WRR is 2 inches taller than the DR. So even with a lowering link it will still be too tall. Instead he needs a DR with a lowering link right?

The DR is around 60 pounds heavier. That was part of my decision, in addition to the seat height.

I ordered a Yamalink (-1.1") and a low seat (-1"). With the rear shock height set to minimum (-0.9"), and the sag set correctly for my weight, I should be OK. Otherwise, I have insurance.

Re: WR250R Thread

The Yamalink came in today (nice folks), so I installed it after
work. I also reduced the shock length to the minimum plus two threads,
raised the forks, bled them, and set the rebound and compression to
the factory settings. On rear, I set the rebound to the max, minus
three clicks. Compression is stock but I may need to tweak it.

It's great, I can get the balls of my feet down now (I have a 30"
inseam). With the lower seat foam that should be here next week, I
think it's going to be fine.

Here are a couple pics:

Re: WR250R Thread

Could someone tell me if the 250 r and x rear fenders are the same, and can they interchange?
I would like to buy another rear fender but can't pull the trigger until I know.

Thanks

One gotcha, if you're not aware, is that the OEM plastics come bare - without the little foam doodads, mounting gizmos, or graphics. Have a look at the fiche and you'll see the extras. Service Honda has good prices online.

Thanks Robb, I did notice that and ordered the seals that I needed with the fender last night. Most of the stuff I had on my old fender, so I hope I got everything I needed.

Re: WR250R Thread

Last Sunday was a maintenance day for my new-to-me WR. I changed the oil and filter, installed the Seat Concepts seat foam, and changed the rear rack. I took a few pictures. Hope this isn't TMI.

Here's the CycleRacks.com steel rack on the scale:

Heavy sucker:

Here's the mounting hardware and stock rear footpegs on the scale:

Tools for Seat Concepts installation:

Here's the factory seat pan:

Almost done:

Finished:

Another view:

Here's the Flatland Racing skid plate. I glued down bicycle inner tubes and some rubber washers to try and kill some of the noise.

Here's the new billet aluminum rack (from eBay). I had it clear anodized. It's on the scale with the mounting hardware.

Almost 3 pounds. So I saved about 7 pounds over the steel rack.

Here it is installed:

Nice CNC logo:

Hope you enjoyed the pics.
