New V4 Sport bike to come from Honda?

This sounds promising. Anyone have more information?

Quote:
A quarter of a century after the benchmark RC30, Honda has announced that it will be launching a road-legal MotoGP replica. ........

Honda announced this year that it will be making a ‘production racer’ version of its RC213V to run in MotoGP, and there's a fair chance that the new rep will be based around this bike. That fits in with Honda’s current pushing of the V4 concept, as the RC213V features a ‘production’ version of the GP engine.

No, but it sounds like fun. And it doesn't surprise me. I read recently in Motorcyclist Magazine that the Japanese manufacturers have a number of new designs teed up. They've apparently been holding back because of the recession, thinking that a new product has a better chance of success when people start spending money again.

Re: New V4 Sport bike to come from Honda?

I wonder if the success of another V4 sport bike had anything to do with this?

Honda plans to put into production a road version of the RC213Vfor 2014. It will not replace the current CBR1000RR but follow more along the lines of the Ducati Desmosedici. Limiteted numbers and a high price tag which will keep the mortal man from playing. If they do it I hope they make it the V5 like the current GP bikes. No info on weather it would be a V5 or 4cylider.

Current is a 4 IIRC. The V5 was the older 990 class engine.

Yeah, there would be something new, and look like they have firmed on the move.
Some reasons for them to launch an official V4 website, even though that mostly for race bikes:

http://world.honda.com/V4-story/

Looking for the 8th Gen of my VFR.

From some things that I have read there is now a limit of 4 cylinders with a max 81mm bore and a limit of 1,000cc. So it isn't qute as open as it was in the past.

Another RC30 or RC45 would be nice but probably priced where most cant afford to tread.

I remember the first and only time I got to ride a RC45. It was also the first time I held a piece of Carbon Fiber was the RC45 Key

A wonderful day riding in the 3 sisters on what was then the most exotic thing out of Japan on two wheels

Made my CBX and 1100F feel like slow tanks in the twisties

This display was setup at Fay Myers, the big multi-line dealer here in the Denver area. An NR750, RC30 and RC45, the RC45 had never been fired except at the factory.

They also had a couple of Ducati Desmosedici bikes for sale there as well.

Very cool! I know Fay Myers - they keep vintage Honda parts in stock, and I used to order from them.

Re: New V4 Sport bike to come from Honda?

Absolute crying shame all they are podium pieces. They desire to be ridden.

Maybe I can get a job there as display rider. You know, go around town in my Myers leathers with TWT painted helmet on my RC45 on Monday and Thursday, RC30 on Tuesday and Friday, NR on Wednesday and Saturday.

I'll reserve Sunday for my 93.

I'm sure he would go for it. Probably increase sales by 1, maybe 2% annually.

Sounds tough. Live in Denver, ride other people's bikes, get paid. Sure you're up to it?

Yea Ultra-high cost.

Re: New V4 Sport bike to come from Honda?

I noticed in the new Cycle World that there is a 2013 VFR 1200 in a different blue color and a few small mods. They say the DCT is smoother and quieter and it has some kind of override to downshift when in auto mode. I can't imagine what its still doing in the inventory as badly as it sold.
