Re: Then Came Bronson

He called me, said the first time he saw it was in the late 70s at the wax museum in Buena Park in the "Cars of the stars" exhibit, then said they went to the Peterson museum last year and they had a lot of the stuff from the now closed wax museum including the Bronson bike, say's he knows He saw it, He's never been one to tell story's so I would have to believe it was there.

Re: Then Came Bronson

Well....According to Petersen's Automotive Museum, they do NOT, and have never had, A Bronson bike on display....The mystery continues.

Re: Then Came Bronson

We got a call from the Petersen Museum. "We found it! It is in the National Motorcycle Museum in Iowa".
"Well, no, that is the replica We placed there last month."
"There is a Guy in Philly that has one".
"No, that is Our friend Greg's bike, and that bike is a replica."

Re: Then Came Bronson

Darn, was hoping for better news, I wish I could find a picture I saw 3-4 years ago of a Bronson bike on display somewhere with bed rolls mounted sitting next to the green Sportster featured in the "Mating dance" episode, the green bike was the prize in the desert race, I saw the pic online while browsing through Bronson stuff and used it as my back ground for a little while.

TD, I too, have seen that pic, but I dont remember where. The green boat-tail Sportster You mentioned is in Willy G. Davidson's personal collection.

Re: Then Came Bronson

I just returned from a 2,564 mile round trip ride to Birney Jarvis' Celebration of Life, in Bay Minette, Alabama. I visited family in Baton Rouge and New Orleans while down there. Then, I rode home in record HEAT> My dash thermometer on My 06 Electra Glide NEVER DROPPED BELOW 120F, all day Thursday. Most miserable I have ever been on a bike. I stopped every 30-40 minute and poured cool water in My helmet, and drank copious amounts of water. Last rest stop, the couple parked next to Me showed Me their car thermometer. It showed 116F.......It was 105F at My home in Canyon when I rolled in at 5PM.
The following video tribute to Birney was shown at the Celebration. First bike pic is me and Birney at the 2010 Lake O' The Pines Rallye. He is on the Bronson replica I built for Him, and I am on My yellow XS650 Street Tracker. Later pic of He and I mugging for the camera in His motorhome, also at LOTP. Ride On, Birney......

Re: Then Came Bronson

Don you ought to write it up as a ride report, all the sweaty details. Pics of the water to the helmet would be classic!

Video is telling. A good story ready for another pilot. Like the Wyatt Earp saga, time to retell to a new generation. Lots of mountain man, heaven is over the next horizon in Birney.

Re: Then Came Bronson

I would love to be able to get the DVD of the Pilot movie and
the TV shows. I watched every one as a teen. This brought
back a lot of memories of bikes I had then(Honda CT-SL's)and
how the TV show effected me at the time. 1969 was a weird
time in American culture with Woodstock, the war, and drugs.
I was totally taken with Michael Parks and his M/C adventures.

Re: Then Came Bronson

I think there is a small window of opportunity for the series to get to DVD on time. How many of us were kids when the show was on the air? We are the ones who want to see this the most and I know some of my friends are already gone. I hope they don't wait too long before the series is on DVD.

Don has some tape of some of the episodes.

If you order it, get it and view it, please post up a review. If the quality is decent I'll order one myself. Thanks

Re: Then Came Bronson

Don't know if the DVDs out there are like the ones my friend sent me to watch or not. The ones I watched looked like someone VCRed the rerunes off one of the TV net works and then later burned them to DVD. The DVD and cases were professional done so I am not thinking it was my friend that made the copies. The shows are very watchable but you can see where the commerical breaks were. Over all I would give them a 8 out of 10 stars. LOL
