Re: Guzzi Rally Lindale Texas October 7

Aargh! Wild Guzzi went down today to change hosts and may be down until 9/28.

Here is some more information:

Guess what time it is? That’s right, it’s time to start packin’ & come on down or up or over for the Texas Moto Guzzi Rally!

This year, I have changed things up a bit. The rally will now be held at the American Legion just east of Lindale and there will be onsite camping. I have the grounds reserved for the whole weekend, so you can come and camp on Friday and Saturday nights. Camping is FREE unless you need water & electric hookups & then it is $14/night. It's only a few miles east of town and just north of I-20, so there are plenty of motels close by if you don’t want to camp. We’ll have some kind of supper Friday & Saturday evenings at the campground & also Saturday morning breakfast. Water, tea, coffee, & soft drinks will be available all weekend. If you want beer, you must bring your own – in cans only, no glass bottles are allowed. Also, the Legion prefers that you keep your beer in a koozie, so if you’ve got some koozies, bring ‘em with ya!

It’s OK if you can’t make it on Friday or Saturday because the main part of the rally will still be on Sunday. Sunday morning breakfast will include homemade dessert breads baked by Ken Hand. Lunch of course will be spaghetti. Awards, door prizes, & 50/50 drawing will be right after lunch. Some nice door prizes have been donated by individuals and businesses.

There is no planned activity for Saturday, but I will have several ride routes mapped out for you to explore the area. If you like to shop, there are unique shops in Lindale and Mineola. Tiger Creek Wildlife Refuge and East Texas Gator Park are both nearby. The American Legion lake is stocked with fish, so bring your fishing pole if you want!

There are a couple of fire rings and plenty of firewood, so if there is no burn ban, then we can enjoy telling lies around the campfire! Bring your camp chair!

I have attached a map, the Rally flyer, & some pictures of the American Legion grounds. (Attachments to follow.)

Here’s a list of the motels. They are all located at I-20 & US Hwy 69 in Lindale.

America's Best Value Inn 903-882-6145
Best Western Inn 903-882-8884
Comfort Suites 903-882-8613
Days Inn Motel 903-882-7800
Hampton Inn 903-882-1002
Laquinta Inn & Suites 903-882-1600

Hope to see you there!

I really enjoy having this rally in my backyard. I've been to the last two, looking forward to this year's event.

The last couple of years, I camped at the Lake of the pines rally near Jefferson.(vintage bike rally). When I headed home on Sunday morning I would stop by the Guzzi rally. Anybody going to the vintage rally too?

Made the NOC gig 2 years ago....I live at the other end of the lake from the rally site..

I may make one or both , my old Triumph is scattered about the shop like my Guzzi.

Depends on how I feel as to whether I will go or not.

It has been nearly a year since my heart overhaul and I still have little energy,,,

I'm planning to come up that way on Saturday, first stopping by the Fly-In at the Cypress River Airport southeast of Jefferson, then continuing on to the vintage rally for a look-see at the bike show.

Let me know if y'all might want to meet up for breakfast or lunch in Jefferson.

Sounds like a Sat. morning plan to me,health and weather permitting. Auntie Skinner's in Jefferson is good..I'll call my Little Bro. and see if He is planning to do the fly in with his EXP. or trailer his old Triumph to the rally....Last time I talked to him they were up to their *** in kit plane builds...And other 7 day week alligators........

Ed, just let me know if/when y'all might want to meet up. I'm thinking a good time to stop by the Fly-In is 9-10am+/- when a good bit of the planes should arrive.

The Jefferson Fly-In at the small Cypress River Airport a couple of miles southeast of Jefferson on FM134 is mostly vintage, experimental and light sport, with the occasional war-bird. The web-site has limited information: http://www.jeffersonflyin.com/

The vintage rally is the annual North Texas Norton Owners Association Rallye at the Big Cypress Marina on the Northeast end of Lake o' Pines in the genera ara of the dam: http://ntnoa.org/12loprallye.htm Bike Show is Saturday 11am-4pm and Rolling Concourse is Sunday at 9am.
