If you're gonna put yourself in that cyclist shoes, you have to take in the fact that he was speeding and wheelie. The plain clothes cop was in a unmarked squad so it probably had a radio and he heard the traffic. We don't know WHY you are speeding at such a high rate of speed. Maybe you just robbed someone?

As stated, go ahead and draw next time and see how that works out for you.
Just like those cops on the police forum are unwise (but within their rights) to post those comments, this is also a public forum and wouldn't look too good when they bring copies of this thread (if they do a good enough search).

The bottom line is: don't ride like a yahoo and avoid or greatly minimize contact with the police.

I'm sure some cop has probably drawn down on someone for no reason but as a general rule, those that operate within the law have very minimal contact with the police and as long as you don't stick your foot in your mouth, the conversation is usually quite reasonable.

Re: Dang PoPo, Stuntas gonna Stunt.

I knew one officer that drew down on a person in a shopping mall when there was no clear and viable reason to do so. The officer panicked when the person he was attempting to detain moved in a way the officer was not expecting. It spooked him. The sight of the revolver (1970s standard issue S&W .357) spooked the patrons around the scene. Complaints were filed. After investigation by the department the guy was given the title of 'former officer' and went looking for a line of work more suited to him.

I didn't see anything in the video that I would call excessive or dangerous done by the officers trying to herd this pack of bikes to a stop. The alleged 'ramming' is laughable after looking at the slowed and expanded shots of questionable impact. Not sure the first one really touched, and the second was a graze at most.

I wouldn't want to be part of the team trying to effect that stop. Then again, I have neither the patience nor the desire to ever enter law enforcement. I probably lack the judgement too since I am not quite grown up despite my age.

Re: Dang PoPo, Stuntas gonna Stunt.

I have the up most respect for the POLICE but with that said Both of these cases where miss handled . The jerk going a 128 mph should've been pulled over but did not deserve a gun, even a lowered ready position reaction from the state trooper. The guys hands was on the handle bars. The state trooper let his adrenaline get the best of him. the other, same thing the police lost control of the situation and maybe should of just laid back and regrouped with a better road block plan. Police r very well trained on how to control there heart rate and breathing so that they can make split second decisions that puts them and the public's safety at risk but not every one that is a police officer on duty in America is perfect they r all human and flawed just like the rest of us. Thank God no one was hurt . Side note next Time you see a Police officer and have a chance to say something Maybe take the time to thank them for there service and wish them a safe good day.

I was passenger, riding with a roommate in his 76 f250 w/ 390 and 3x2bbl carbs. Loud truck, and it took a bit of throttle to get the tires turning. Cop flagged us down. We stopped, when he instructed us to turn into a lot, the throttle up of the truck startled him. Out came gun, pointed at both of us.

Re: Dang PoPo, Stuntas gonna Stunt.

Looking at the OP's video, I don't see what the big deal was, very little if any other traffic on the road except for them and the police. Big public safety threat? Sorry I don't see it! They are obviously more of a threat to themselves, riding too close together. I didn't see any wheelies or anything. Some were speeding, but most of them were obeying the law, up until the point they were attempted to be stopped or arrested. Then they scattered. Looks like they were trying to herd cats.

Wonder what would of happened if the police just left them alone? Probably nothing.

Now if they start doing it in town, a neighborhood, near a school, church etc..., different story of course.

Meh!

Try walking out of an apartment to several officers, guns drawn, with K-9 units.

Now that's an experience that will leave an impression on ya.

I mean if you think this is a lame thread, unsubscribe. Obviously there is something here for you since you keep posting. Maybe you can contribute something more than how lame the thread is?

No one that I know of likes lookin' down a barrel of a gun unless your a nut job but perspective is everything. Maybe he thought you were gonna take off and run him over. It's not like THAT hasn't happened before.

Understandable... is it normal for a LEO to stand in traffic in front of a vehicle he is pulling over?

I guess if you are not so smart. You ever think the driver couldn't turn the wheel and knock him down and run him over with the back wheel especially in the truck you mentioned? Once again, not like THAT hasn't happened before.

I understand your questioning but what I don't get is how quick people (maybe or maybe not you) are so quick to pass judgment when they haven't done it. Everyone has an opinion but the opinion holds more value when you actually have experience doing it.

Oh, I know we've had the discussion before and how TM feels that since we serve the public we should be open to more criticism. There is some truth to that but it's really no different than telling a plumber or doctor how to do his job and how often does the general public do that? Not often would be my guess.
