Re: Assignment #91, Garbage (ENTRY)

Alright, it's time! Ok past time... sorry guys. Been under the weather a bit. Here we go. I like the variety we have!

klb1122: Nice shot. I like how you paired the contrast of the trashy shoe with the likeness of the same shoe, new. Simple, well done.

tim_cannon: This is good. I like the composition here, and that can is definitely in its natural habitat. Mellow sky and subdued colors makes the can take your attention.

Duke: Cool lighting going on in this scene. I can just picture the garbage swirling in the eddies coming down the alleyway.

Bob Dahringer: That is definitely one getup I've never seen before! Cool concept here, and I like where you took it because I hadn't thought that far (ironically).

M38A1: You sir are the technical man, aren't you? Clean lines, nice color throughout. Dumpsters in a row, the epitome of back-hall upscale life.

Good showing, all. I appreciate your efforts toward this not quite normal topic. All of these exhibit in some way what I was looking for, but I gotta go with Duke on this one. He got to the core of what I was looking for with this topic and on top of that he found it in a setting I really wouldn't have thought to look. Well done, sir.

Congrats Duke.

Your shot was indeed garbage to me too.

Congrats Duke! I really wanted to play along with this one and had a shot in mind right after Rachel told me the topic. But this past week I think I put in somewhere around 70-80 hours and I just couldn't get out to get the shot.

Great shot. Kept me studing it for awhile with the leading lines and things to look at.

Re: Assignment #91, Garbage (ENTRY)

Wow.. Thanks so much Butte.

I was in Istanbul for a couple of days week before last. Lovely city, but for the ally ways at closing time for the "Old Bazaar" when the shop keepers would through their trash from their trash can's from inside their stores into the ally. I can only presume that a service came through, (sweeper truck?), and collected everthing in the overnight.

I will put up a new contest by the end of the day. Thanks everyone.

Re: Assignment #91, Garbage (ENTRY)

Tim,
In your shot, there's a distinctly light/white area between the two bridge columns which isn't present on the outsides (L or R) of them. And there's a little banding on the right side of the right column on my monitor.

Did you run some post on the sky? Or is that an overexposure situation from reflection off the fairly white columns themselves in that little gap?

My take was that the sun was near the top of.....and behind the columns? Just a guess, but the columns seem to be "glowing" gently as if the sun were back there?
