Sold - Honda Transalp

1990 Honda Transalp. 16,000 Miles. Great condition. Includes 3 different pipes (Arrow, SuperTrapp, stock) 2 Windshields (tall, stock), GIVI crash bars, forks rebuilt 1 year ago, replacement shock still in box, O-ring chain has 500 miles on it. Generic top box with quick release, soft pannier support (not mounted) Knobbies. Have a spare CDI (just in case). Belonged to my father for 15 years who stopped riding it at age 75, I have had it for a year and just dont ride it. Clear Texas title. It's fun to watch people walk right by a $20,000 "adventure bike" and say "where did you get that Transalp!" Located in Grapevine, TX, 10 minutes from DFW airport. $4000

Re: Honda Transalp

I'm not normally a "red" person......But that Alp looks fantastic.

I had a '90 moonstone Alp with all the trimmings for a short time a few years back. It had belonged to two different forum members prior to me & if my financial situation hadn't changed so drastically....I would prob still have it. Hope ya have an easy sale on that great lookin bike!

Re: Honda Transalp

Yikes. I've always had a soft spot in my head for Transalp, and yes, I meant to type head. If it was a soft spot in my heart my first thought wouldn't have been how to get the money.

Looks very nice. I miss mine, but sold it because it wasn't getting ridden as much as my other two bikes.

Have you listed it on ADVrider.com? There are a bunch of rabid Transalp folks there and a bike with that low mileage should be jumped on there.

You mentioned CDI, does it have the revised CDI holder that re-orients them so the don't stick up as much? Most failures were because the seat flex would push on the connector and cause solder failures. So the new holder fixed that, but most TA owners would carry a space CDI just in case. It will limp along with just one, which I always thought was cool.

Re: Honda Transalp

The CDI holder has been revised. I listed in ADV rider, along with a link to my craigslist ad, (for pictures) ADV rider moderators nuked my ad, I guess because of the craigslist link. Have since got a smugmug account and tried to relist on ADV rider, but they have yet to post my ad.

Re: Honda Transalp

Yeah, they are very anti-crosslinking to craigslist (or ebay). They want it to be a unique advertisement.

well, the guy that started advrider has/owns his own photo hosting web site..... which, coincidentally is called "smugmug" - LOL I don't think it has anything to do with the ad being, "unique' ... I think it has to do with selling photo hosting ability at a cost. Not saying there is anything wrong with that, but let's be honest.

again, that is a beautiful transalp.

MANY of us use SmugMug here. Mouse over your images above and look at the URL. It's a SM one. And in addition to ADVRider, Baldy also owns/runs www.dgrin.com (digital grin), a premier site for photographers, again - many of us here are also members there....

I also have a smugmug acct..... I had to get one to post some pictures on advrider ( since it isn't free) -- just commenting that it has nothing to do with the ad being unique.........

again and back to the trans alp, beautiful bike- GLWS--
