ROLL THE BONES III:Mr2mch's Paved Pair A Dice...Saturday Morn & Afternoon Rides Info

Mr2mch's Paved Pair A Dice..... possibly fortified with gravelly goodness...

A separate thread for those folks who are interested in my Saturday Mornin & Afternoon pavement (term used loosely) excursions during Roll The Bones III. Ask any questions you have....Find out who else is going (or who isn't) general road condition info...alternate routes to be provided for pure street riders on larger touring or cruisers....Meet times....etc.

I'l also include info about my Friday Afternoon LOCOmotion Ride to the Ribs which leaves around 1PM

UPDATE:
Although the RTB Website doesn't show it...For those who may not kno. I will be doing TWO DIFFERENT SATURDAY RIDES this year.
Hopefully the website will be updated with this info before the rally.
Here's the schedule so far....

>>>FRIDAY 1PM @ Circle T (OT) Arena Parking Lot (out front of the Alamo)
Leave as close to 1PM as possible & wind our way around some of the best pavement the area has to offer while heading toward our evenings eatery ...The LOCO COYOTE. Be there by 5PM !! (ok ok ...no "have ya got another 15 minutes?" this time) After eatin (& prizes)... Head pretty much directly back to OT since it'll be dark thirty by that time.

>>>SATURDAY 8AM @ OT Arena Parking Lot
..or after the riders meeting...gather up everyone for the mornin ride & leave by 8:30AM Ride thru Bosque..McLennan...& possibly Some of Somervell/Johnson counties. There will be some great FM roads laced together with a few "paved goat paths" as slowolddude calls em. Depending on the type of bikes/riders preferences we may include some short well groomed gravel sections (not too many & none over 3mi) that fit in nicely with the pavement (anywhere from 100% paved to 85/15%) Most any street bike can handle these bits o gravel, but I'll call it by the dust factor on the day.

>>>SATURDAY LUNCH 11:30ish....Somewhere in the vicinity & on the way back to Hamilton/or in Hamilton. Not too much lunch mihd ya....The evening's feastin will come later. Maybe a good ol burger...or BBQ..We have several restaurant choices or folks can just head to Circle T & eat there. Gonna try ta keep it simple.

>>>SATURDAY 1PM @ OT Arena Parking Lot
Leave as close to 1PM as possible & head south & west for some of western Coryell..Lampasas..& Mills counties best wide open spaces...traversed by even longer "goat Paths" & those ever present FMs. We'll cover a bit more real estate on this ride since there's a little more time....but we'll still return to the T by 5PM....or so (there's that 15min thing...I wondered when it was gonna pop up) ...6PM at the VERRRY LATEST...I promise....?huh .......NO....I'm not tryin ta starve ya!! we'll get there.

>>>SUNDAY ???AM Who Knos??!! I'll make up sumthin on the fly...... (for those who don't kno....My schedule is W I D E open right now...NO TIME CONSTRAINTS WHATSOEVER)

bigdave-gs has volunteered his services to ride "sweep" on our Saturday rides.....BIG THANX!! to BIGDAVE

>>>>>>>ON THE DAY......IF WE HAVE FOLKS ON LARGE TOURING OR CRUISER STYLE BIKES WHO PREFER TO STAY ON MOSTLY NICE FMs WITH JUST A FEW SMOOTH PAVED COUNTY ROADS THROWN IN......I'LL HAVE ALTERNATE ROUTES AVAILABLE WHICH ARE EASY TO FOLLOW FOR SELF GUIDED RIDES...or we may be able to provide an imitation "Tye Dyed Tour Guide" clone if there is enough interest.

Friday pm for sure. Probably won't eat at Loco. Linda will be at the hotel.

Possibly saturday am and pm as well. Need to see what the other routes and the weather looks like before deciding for sure.

I'm in too. Maybe I'll meet you at the LC on Friday. Of course this assumes the pig is running well. The battery is failing and the new one is on the way. I'll just have to install it.

If the KLR is not ready, I'll be on the mighty V-Strom. This looks like fun. Are you sending GPS routes.

....& NEW ...IMPROVED...BUTLER SYNTHETIC WATERPROOF MAPS.....now with 44% more.......roads.

sorry....shameless ad.

Actually I keep all the good stuff stashed......inside my head.

I am gonna submit some mainly FM routes for the cruisers & touring bikes. TXjames will transform the routes into tracks ..I think. The rides I'm leading will be county road (paved goat path) rich with some FMs thrown in for good measure.

Re: ROLL THE BONES III:Mr2mch's Paved Pair A Dice...Saturday Morn & Afternoon Rides I

I've laid out 2 different STREET BIKE ONLY rides on some of the BEST FMs around the area. (& a few CRs easily ridable) These routes are geared toward those riders on larger cruisers tourers & sport touring bikes who would prefer not to ride the small county roads I will be leading folks on. I think the routes are being readied for distribution to registered rally goers either as GPS tracks or actual turn by turn maps. They should be ready by this weekend hopefully...givin ya'll a week to go over them & make yer choices.

They are to the wizard (in this case Calvin). I am hoping he can do something with your 47 alternates and options. Jeebus. I just wonder what the inside of your head looks like.

Do you remember Razz Ma Tazz in Waco???? Think of that overlayed on a map....with a black light shining on it.

Relax folks.......Just distant memories......

Multisurface Rider (Calvin) has my routes ready & now they can be converted into tracks. There are actually 3 slightly different western rides from 160 to 243 miles long...& 2 different northern rides which are roughly the same length @ 220 mi (1 has a few county roads). I haven't been able to look at the routes just yet..we're workin thru application issues but will get these ironed out.

The distances involved with these rides don't lend themselves to a mornin & afternoon separation like my CR led rides do so plan accordingly if you're gonna ride them. There are cool places to stop for a break....take in the views...or just slow down a bit. I'll mention a few places for folks to stop for lunch too.

I purposely laid out these rides so as NOT to place too many bikes in the same general vicinity at the same times. Don't need any xtra unwanted attention drawn to our little excursions by the locals & such.....(flashy blinky)

We're gonna have more choices than Rod has tie-dyed T's. That's a good thing.

Sweet...I'm looking forward to what you have planned, and yes I'll be on my trusty V. I've only been as far north as Hico in the state.

Since ya live in SA....You've got the roam of some of Texas' best right on your fingertips. But you'll like all the hills & twisty bits that are scattered about all the way up past Weatherford & Jacksboro. Not that we'll get that far on a half a day ride. Hek...I can make a whole day of ridin all the paved goodies within a 60 mile quarter radius of west Waco. That's roughly out to Brazos Point/Walnut Springs/Hico/Hamilton & Evant.
