I'll try to remember to check the 1008 crossing with the van and trailer on the way down in the morning.

Ready to roll! I think my little man thought he was coming too. Gave me a facepalm when he learned he couldn't

I raced the front from Mena yesterday and it caught me when I stopped in Waco for the night. Woke this morning to north wind and sprinkles. After stopping at Lorreta's in Calvert for a stellar breakfasts, the rain soaked me all the ways to Brookshire before it let up.you.
Hopefully, I was able to draw the majority off y'all so you can have good weather the rest of the weekend.

Re: ROLL THE BONES III: BIGGER AND BETTER. October 26-28, 2012, Hamilton, TX
It was good to meet you and enjoyed the conversation.
What a great time. Got to fly the rig right off the start on the Rib Run while shooting through barricades with 1 inch to spare on either side. Chased down deviators from the route to get them back on track, ate lots of dust. Did I say what a great time it was. Saturday I became a leader to the only other hack. She did a great job of piloting while her husband navigated from the side. ![]() Lunch stop in San Saba then a run to the Regency Bridge. Coming down the hill to the bridge found the back of my rig sliding more than was caused by driver in put. Stopped before crossing to a flat drive tire. The couple I was leading had a patch kit and compressor, a local loaned a jack and a fellow passing rider loaned some spoons. The patch did not hold or I pinched the tube while seating the tire, so I crossed the bridge sitting on top of the car to get to the White Wolf Outpost, where I bought a bottle of Slime and used a bigger compressor. This fix allowed me to get another 3 miles to the end of my ride. ![]() Brad and chauffeur picked me up, just before dark, for a ride back to the Circle T to get my van and trailer. Got back a little after mid night for a very unrestful sleep. Got up and drove out about 6:15 and arrived home before 8am. Thanks again for a great event Dody, Tom and the rest of the crew. |

Re: ROLL THE BONES III: Backtrackin...
HOME!!! 5:30PM Sunday....Roughly 240 on the Strom today after the "Follow Me Home" Ride (thankya Dire Straits). My turn around point.....Marble Falls leaving TrashySquid to fend for himself on good ol 281 into San Antone. O Matic & Kosmic had already split off in Bertram...headed for points a bit more east. (THANX FOR THE BROWNIES YARDRACER!!!!) We sampled em while stopped north of Lampasas then checked out some really cool "ranch house ultra modern" archatechture. I think the guys were satisfactorily surprised with my route choices.
Saturday's afternoon Coryell Cruise wound up with about 140 on the odo. ...& a bunch of smiling faces. We were able to get away from O-T about 1:15 & wound our way south to FM580 just west of Topsey before turnin it back toward Gatesville. Only one little "get off" in a corner with some fresh topping (extra loose!!)...Luckily only some bruises & stiff muscles I hope (sorry I don't remember your name??) The bike only suffered a broken turn signal! After a short refreshment stop we rolled back into Hamilton at 5:40PM CAN YOU SAY CHILLY....?? Shure ..I knew you could. Saturday at 8:45 The mornin crew went barrellin toward Bosque Co while kickin up some dust for a bit. Windin round the mountain near The Gap is always a hoot & when ya throw in a mad dash by a herd o deer...well that's kind of a hoot too. I finally had to stop the crew so the question could be answered....(Why did the deer cross the road?) Don't ask me....My mind already has enough to deal with! A couple of mis-taken road choices put us on a bit more gravel than I had intended but we finally made it to Hamilton pretty much on time for a quick lunch at 11:35 (I gotta unload the bike....Friday's LOCOmotion ride rehash comin up) ...& a Grand Funk it was. We Took the dusty way outta town headed toward Fairy...But instead of doin the logical thing & turnin north toward LOCO...In my usual illogistical manner...we wound around the mountains in a somewhat easterly direction & eventually crossed the Brazos River. While some of the roads were big & straight...the paved goat path alongside the Brazos was as narrow as any of the others I ride. Kinda out of the way compared to all the other stuff that I usually ride...Definately worth it though. The group had a couple of unexpected "gas" stops....but (& you're NOT gonna believe this...) WE WERE SOME OF THE FIRST RIDERS TO MAKE LOCO!!!! How'zat for Swisscheez timing!!!

Re: ROLL THE BONES III: BIGGER AND BETTER. October 26-28, 2012, Hamilton, TX
Finally home after putting the tent and fly out to dry from the frost water from this morning, and just in time to see the Cowboys/Giants game.
Many thanks to Mr2mch who took O Matic, Kosmic and myself for a personal ride back south towards our homes. And both of his guided rides on Saturday were great! Some pics from those rides: The old Lutheran Church just outside Cranfills Gap on CR4145: Old Gas Station in Izoro on FM1690: Just like it says...Oatmeal, TX: Old Iron Bridge just outside of Hamilton: Many thanks to Ghost and to all of the Executive Disorganization Committee members for putting on a great show. 'Till next year!

Re: ROLL THE BONES III: BIGGER AND BETTER. October 26-28, 2012, Hamilton, TX
Tired and still need to go work tonight. For now I just want to recognize the very large contributions of woodbutcher, multisurfacerider, Odiegreen73, Little Big Dave, John and Gail, Ulybrad and Mrs. Ulybrad , John and Gail's charming daughter and head ticket seller/ bonfire photographer Emily, the nephews for the trailer of wood, Micha for the above and beyond registration help, Dan Moody and multisurfacerider again for stepping up for the WWP at the auction, and most of all to the attendees who make this all worthwhile.
I hope you all enjoyed yourselves as much as we enjoyed having you in our backyard. Great group of guys and gals. This is truly the strangest group of personalities I am around all year. What a wild mix. I. Just. Love. It. Breaks down barriers and nothing matters but the riding. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Re: ROLL THE BONES III: BIGGER AND BETTER. October 26-28, 2012, Hamilton, TX
Had a great time. Learned some valuable lessons. Enjoyed friends while making new ones. Thank you Dody, James, Tom and company for putting on a great rally and for looking out for everyone, especially me. RTB truly does care. Really enjoyed getting to know Brad and Diana while they fetched me and my bike back to Circle T and then home today. Neat folks. Looking forward to working on my skilz with Brad. Lots to learn. What a great community of riders we enjoy.
Edit: Oh, yeah. Thanks also go to Dustin, the Harley rider out of Austin, who stopped and gave me his MSR bottle of gas then escorted me the 5 miles to Lampasas.
