New Honda 500s for Europe
From MCN
"New Honda 500s spied – again By Phil West - New bikes 25 October 2012 15:57 These spy shots show Honda’s three, all-new, 2013 500s in their finished state for the first time. Believed to have been taken during the filming of an advertising campaign the pictures clearly show the three new machines which are due to receive their official public unveiling at the Milan Show in three weeks’ time. The bikes are: the sporty, fully-faired CBR500; the naked CB500R roadster and the ‘cross-over’-styled CB500X. All use the same new, liquid-cooled, parallel twin 500cc powerplant which is expected to produce peak power of around 47bhp and thus qualify for the new A2 licence which comes into force on January 19 next year. The variants also use the same basic, budget-minded chassis, comprising conventional telescopic forks, single ‘wavy’ front disc and monoshock rear. Full details in next week’s MCN – out Wednesday October 31." Looks like Honda is going on a budget bike binge.

Re: New Honda 500s for Europe
They're not just for Europe. We will be getting some of that, at least the CBR500.

Re: New Honda 500s for Europe
I suppose the jacked up rear fender with a foot of tire clearance is a p-opular styling cue, but other than aerodynamics on a race bike, it serves no purpose other than to limit storage and eliminate the ability to adjust butt position for various wind conditions, which is critical to riding a naked bike on long highway rides.

Re: New Honda 500s for Europe
I initially was going to buy the CBR500 but I just couldn't wait until Spring. The dealer mark up was also going to be another issue so I ended up buying a Versys. But who knows how I will feel when I see a CBR500? I really liked my CBR250R but wished it had another 20 HP. Now Honda makes a CBR500... Wish they had kept the single cylinder.

Re: New Honda 500s for Europe
For the most part, yes. In order to make a bike with the HP to comfortably churn out the top cruising speed I like it would have to be more than a single can produce without being of fairly large size and then by it's very nature, be very high vibration.

Re: New Honda 500s for Europe
Fine, I'll bite. I was hoping they'd pass down some of their old motoGP tech and give us a V-5 bike.
Look to Yamaha and Triumph for your triples.

Re: New Honda 500s for Europe
I have no idea. But they did a darn fine job with them in the past.

Re: New Honda 500s for Europe
Well then, good luck with all that, I'm not holding my breath. Triumph is already putting out triples and Yamaha has one in the works.
http://www.mcnews.com.au/2013_Bikes/...tro_Triple.htm It'll be interesting to see where it ends up. I've put my hat into the R6 ring to compete with Triumph's Daytona 675. It'd be interesting though to see other places it could end up as well.

Re: New Honda 500s for Europe
Don't want a race replica. I'd like something that I can ride all day.
