two stop for pie??

Texas country reporter has been doing polls for several catagorys of eating places and one of them was for pie. the top three places for Pie in Texas as voted on by TCR fans are:

Koffee Kup in Hico

Blue Bonnet cafe in Marble Falls

Pie Peddlers in Glen Rose

the first one is our traditional january destination
the second one we have done in the past and due to remodeling and expantion with a new group room will be a 2013 destination

the third one I have heard much good buzz about and they have moved into a bigger location, but they don't list anything other than pie on their menu so I was thinking about a two stop pie run with first BBQ at hammonds then zip around the corner down 144 to Pie Peddlers.
what do you think???

Re: two stop for pie??

It's more than just around the corner from Hammonds to the Square in Glen Rose. More like about a mile.

Logistics and timing might be an issue. Turnout would affect how long it would take to get everyone through the ordering and eating process at Hammonds then shuffled to Pie Peddlers. That makes setting the time for everyone to be at Pie Peddlers difficult.

Might be better just to make the Pie Peddlers the destination location with a later in the day time than the normal 11 AM and leave everyone on their own for lunch.

I am going to research pie peddlers some more, they had listed sandwiches at the old tiny place.
Not sure if it is even worth it, they don't have peanutbutter pie so they can't be that good.

Re: two stop for pie??

No peanut butter but they do have buttermilk .

Robin and I were just down that way two weeks ago. We stopped at the Museum on the north side of the square. I looked over in the direction the Pie place is suppose to be. All I remember seeing was a sign that mentioned Blue Bell Ice Cream but that is not listed on their menu either. Might not have been the Pie Peddler place though. There were a number of shops along that side of the square.

Re: two stop for pie??

That was done a few times with the Texas Pie Company in Kyle and the Deustch Apple in Blanco. Some just showed up for pie but others went and ate elsewhere in town before or after with a group of others and then just showed up for pie.

The Loco Coyote is just outside of Glan Rose, but if you eat there you won't have room for pie later

Re: two stop for pie??

We almost had pie there in Glen Rose a few weeks back. We finished up the morning at Dinosaur Valley and were looking for lunch. They told us they do not have any other food on their menu so we ended up over at Hammonds but then were too full to go back for some pie.

Over in Granbury, Linda's Southern Kitchen is opened in a new location and offers homemade pies as well.
