OH NO!!, What happened to SPEED

:angryfir: Anyone else turn on the SPEED channel this morning only to find out that it is now on a separate pay package. For an additional $2 per month you get SPEED and 4 other Fox Ports stations I will never watch. Its not necessarily the extra two bucks (although it would have been nice if Time Warner had sent something out that let us know this was happening ) its that I already pay to much for the digital cable set-up, what does two extra bucks get them, an angry customer .

Anyway, I forked out the 2 sawbucks and in 2 minutes (ironic coincidence) SPEED was back up and running and I will be watching the races this afternoon. Hopefully by then (after a few hours of hard labor in the yard) I will have cooled down a little.

Go Yates, Edwards, Yates (AMA SS, MotoGP, AMA SBK)

SPEED Channel Sucks

So, there's a rain delay for F1. Fine, no problem. The race ends just before 2, with podiums right around 2. Okay, so the AMA Supersport race will air a few minutes late, right? NOT. Friggin' SPEED decided to cover all the post-race crap. Recaps from the race and other races. Would they do this for the motorcycle races? Nope.

SPEED Channel sucks. They yank Motorcyclist off the air. Motorcycle racing takes a back seat to everything. I'm sick of it. Yeah, yeah, where else would we get to watch it? They need to come up with a dedicated motorcycle channel when the races are on. Kinda like an ESPN2, but SPEED2 or somesuch.

But at least they actually showed the complete races! Before they would have just blown them off. So while the coverage is still not as motorcyclecentric as I'd like, they are doing slightly better than they have done in the past.

Sorry to hear about the speed diemma Andy. That bites! But you at least you got to see the races.

SPEED

Scott,

Yes, you're right. At least they showed the entire race. They've done it before where they cut the races off. Especially since their Nascar show is right after the second AMA Superbike race, I was sure something had to give. Still, they should stick to their schedule. All of that post-race F1 stuff was just fluff.

I agree, the post-race F1 show was a complete waste of time, but I figure more people wanted to see that than the Supersport races, so they pleased their biggest body of customers. With the way motorcycling is growing I think in a few years we'll have the pull to give some of the other sports a run for the airtime, but Speed did good by showing the rest of the motorcycle races in their entirety. That will do for now, I think. But man, Kidder, your notion of a channel dedicated to motorcycles makes me drool....
