A few of us usually head up north in amongst the grasslands area (LBJ), as well as in Montague and Cooke counties. Going up there soon for a gravel road/historic trails/camping weekend. No real DS riding close in around FtW.

Dual Sport - this includes non-paved roads.

This route sounds interesting. Can you describe it a bit for us, like road/highway names, etc.?

If I had time, I could. If I can remember them all (but I can find them on the bike!) We'll be going up in that area again in another month or so, probably camping in the Grasslands again (base camp). I'll post up notice when we do.

Do you guys have plans to ride the Grasslands any time soon? I'd like to join in. Proud owner of a new (to me) '07 KLR650.

As soon as a weekend shows up with good weather. aka temps in which fingers don't freeze and without swimming through mud. Or snow.

Next weekend (Feb 20-21) is a possibility. There is a route from Frisco (Hwy 380 & Dallas North Tollway) all county roads up to Gordonville. I was going to ride that, then find a route west and down toward Decatur and the Grasslands.

I have to work Saturdays this time of year, so it's an all day Sunday ride, or...

I have a sailboat at Cedar Mills Marina outside Gordonville. I thought I might leave after work Saturday, ride up to the boat (arrive before dark) sleep there, and ride Sunday. There's a comfortable yacht club and a restaurant/bar at the marina. Boat will take two and gear comfortably, will squeeze in three.

This ride sounds like fun, weather permitting. I'd probably need to join in on Sunday, maybe meet you up there in Gordonville.
