Re: Ayers Garage - Powder coating, ceramic coating, restoration
Can you do bicycles? I have a 1935 Wards Hawthorne which I'd like to pencil in some approximate costs to blast and powdercoat... And those rims you did above are along the same lines of what I'm looking for in the bicycle.

But, I think we could find a nice gold and then I could put a flat clear topcoat on it to make a pretty close facsimile. This clear I'm talking about turns any basecoat into a semi gloss color that kind of glows in the sun. Here are some pics of what I'm talking about. ![]() ![]() ![]() If I did all four hubs at the same time, figure about 120 bucks for the job, assuming the hubs were pretty well degreased and fully disassembled when I got them (no bearings or seals in them). |

Re: Ayers Garage - Powder coating, ceramic coating, restoration
Marko,
This shade looks like it might fill the bill with a flat clear topcoat. Note these pictures are not my personal work. They are sample color pictures from my distributor. I don't want to claim anyone else's pictures. ![]() ![]()

Re: Ayers Garage - Powder coating, ceramic coating, restoration
Marko, we can try that, but it will be full glossy for sure. Candy topcoats are just pigmented clears. If that's what you dig, I'm game.

Re: Ayers Garage - Powder coating, ceramic coating, restoration
That's some pretty nice stuff. I like the idea of vinyl under the coating, I didn't even know that was possible.
What's the turn around time on small stuff? Would it be something where someone could do a ride in ride out type of deal, waiting around watching the artist at work?

Re: Ayers Garage - Powder coating, ceramic coating, restoration
If it's a job using a stocking powder color, I tell folks my turnaround time is 3 days. I usually get it under that, but 3 days is a safe number so I don't disappoint. Customer waiting wouldn't work out really. I do stuff in phases. One day is strip and clean day, one day might be blast day, one day shoot and cure day. It's more efficient that way.

Re: Ayers Garage - Powder coating, ceramic coating, restoration
Absolutely. I just blast it to etch the chrome so the surface has some tooth for the powder to adhere to.
All of this stuff was chrome. Choose your preference, any black from full gloss to dead flat. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Ayers Garage - Powder coating, ceramic coating, restoration
Question: I'm ordering some saddlebag protection bars for my '10 Kawa Concours14 which is "Candy Neptune Blue" (whatever that is in the real paint world) If I plan on sending them to you for a fairly close match to "Candy Neptune Blue" should I order them Chromed or black powder coated for the best appearance or ease of your reworking on them?? If it doesn't really matter then I'll get them in black.
(I also got some Honda Trail 90 frame/fender/swing arm/gas tank(?)/misc work for you down the road a bit. You can match Coleman Cooler red, right? {see avatar |

Re: Ayers Garage - Powder coating, ceramic coating, restoration
I'm getting stuff ready myself , let me ask , shipping would kill me on my frame , would you be able to get it from your local bus station , would build a nice bx out of 1/4 plwood , you would be able to send it back in the same bx , I think this would be a good way to send a bunch of stuff , Thanks
