Here is a piece of advice for after the ride. You may be tempted to put off a thorough cleaning with fresh water when you get home, but don't! Do it right away, nothing rusts steel parts faster than the sand, salt and surf from the beach. Give it a good cleaning and oiling. Have a nice ride.

Btw; there is gas at High Island and in Sabine Pass so a small gas tank is no problem.

That was Rydah, no kidding. I saw the vid just after it happened and posted along side the guy since, but never knew the connection. He got some serious flight time out of that cut.

That seems very early to me. With DST kicking in I would have thought it was ~1-2pm. Anyway never an issue with access for bikes, just limits your wandering range.

Hope you can make it on a ride soon Prothos. I know you're itching to get your new two smoker in the dirt. I've wanted to get mine on the beach one of these days also but haven't added the final dual sport pieces to plate it after getting my bonded title. Don't think I would want to ride it the 80 miles from Humble though.

Rode High Island to Sabine Pass with Silver and Rustee. This was the worsed I've seen the beach loaded with debris. High Tide slowed us down even more. Seems like this ride is no longer worth the headache.

i would haul it from humble down. not even sure of the range i have on the 3.5 gallon tank yet. i have the kids bathroom tore apart. should finish it up thursday with any lucky

Yep, crazy amount of debris the entire route. Much worse than I've ever seen it myself also. Plus side though I didn't see any of the bailing wire that normally plagues this route. Also plenty of mud now from all the rains we've recently got. The high tide forced us to ride closer to the waterline which meant navigating the continuous rocks and broken asphalt remains of old Hwy 87. At times it seemed like we where trials riding dodging the sharp edged baby head sized rocks and going up/over/down the many rock ledges.

Prothos some nice trail riding here in Bastrop if you're willing to trailer the 150 miles each way to get there. Dual sport ride after the trails and lunch also if you want to make it an all day ride. Typical riding you should have ~100 mile range on a full tank so no premixing or refill required during the day.

My DRZ is a Virgin and has never been in sand/salt.
