Honda dirtbike engine parts
Have a customer who is restoring an old Honda CR250 dirt bike. He had painted the engine parts with rattle can but wasn't happy with the results so he had me strip and coat them instead. The color is Paccar 55% gloss black.
Lots of very tedious masking here ! ![]() ![]()

Re: Honda dirtbike engine parts
I dread to think what it cost!! As you say a lot of awkward masking required!! Nice result..

Re: Honda dirtbike engine parts
I don't mind saying publicly. He sent me the parts very clean so no real degreasing required. This was a 125 dollar job plus 22 dollars return shipping.
I know that's a lot more expensive than going to spray paint route, but some folks like to go all the way on their hobbies. I have always been that way and have tried to make my business by catering to like minded folks. Last edited by Ayers Garage; 03-29-2012 at 12:31 PM. |

Re: Honda dirtbike engine parts
Every motorcycle that I have ever rebuilt (And there are many) have always had the frames and engines epoxy coated!! It's expensive but it lasts and looks great (if done well). I also had the exhausts epoxy coated in hi-temp epoxy as well, but that doesn't seem to last as well, but I still have it done as it looks better than rust..

Re: Honda dirtbike engine parts
The customer was extremely happy with the cylinder that I coated for him so he sent me the rest of the engine parts to do. There's a lot of dust on the parts from laying them on a dirty fender cover.

Re: Honda dirtbike engine parts
Thanks Joe. The neat thing about this job is that the customer contacted me for pricing then decided to do it himself. A few months later he contacted me and admitted that his results weren't satisfactory and wanted my address to ship the parts to for a re-do.

Re: Honda dirtbike engine parts
If he sends you pics of the bike after re-build please post 'em up. Would love to see! Can't wait to see your work first hand next month some time!
