I've been researching options for a long distance touring helmet for a ride coming up in May.

There are so many choices out there, and I'm kinda picky about how I spend my hard earned cash. Here are the criteria:

  • Silence is golden and the new helmet has to be a quiet one.
  • This is a brain bucket and maximum protection is something I'm willing to pay for but my budget is around $600 +/-.
  • Light and aerodynamic to reduce strain on 6 hour ridesl
  • No cheap Chinese junk
  • Strong preference for modular
  • Strong preference for flip down sun shade
  • Must have an option for bluetooth either OEM or aftermarket

The front runners are:

What helmet would you choose and why? Is there a better choice that I missed?

Check out the schuberth c3 or c3 pro. I just got one and I love it. Super quiet in there.. Modular with Bluetooth option.. And built in sun shade and includes a pinlock screen.

+2 on the Schuberth, BUT

I have owned the HJC Symax system and really like it. With quality ear plugs, I would rank it up there.

My 2 cents worth.

I've worn the Neotec for several months now. It's rigged with a Sena 3S-B. It replaced an Arai full-face and I'm quite pleased.

Good day-long comfort. Pretty quiet (I do always wear the excellent Sparkplug foam ear plugs) and the overall fit and finish is what you'd expect from a Shoei.

I have been wearing a Neotec for a few years and have been very happy with it.

Last year I moved from my Neotec that I have worn happily for years to the C3 Pro, I chose to go with the Sena 20s instead of the integrated neck roll option for the Bluetooth comms/entertainment system and am very pleased with the results.

The C3 Pro is by leaps and bounds the most comfortable, quiet, lightest helmet I have ever worn. Prior to my C3 Pro I said the same thing about my Neotec, try them both on if you can and get the one that fits you best, both are good.. no, GREAT helmets.

Thanks for all of your input. I pulled the trigger on a Schuberth S2 in glossy white and SRCS system today. Good guys wear white hats in Texas.

By the way, Motorcycle-superstore has both the helmets and matching SRCS units on sale. I was able to pick up both for about the same as the cost of the Neotech alone.
