Re: Clear Lake Bike Night Wednesday

Still on our off road adventure. You know it's bad when you have almost more miles on your 4-wheeler than your street bike. So far I think we have put a total of 500 miles from jeep trails in Ouray Colorado to slick rock in Moab Utah to gravel roads to rocky hill climbs in Marysvale Utah with very little asphalt. If you really want to ride some DS routes you need to come to Marysvale Utah. One loop is 250 miles or more of 95% off road. All trails connect to little towns that have gas stations and places to eat which 4-wheelers can drive on city streets. Then there is miles and miles in between that are marked trails through woods over mountains down gravel roads. We saw no motorcycles on any of the trails most of the time we never even saw anyone. I guess it just hasn't caught on here because they cater to atv's and SxS. Also no jeeps to worry about because most of the trails are 50" and 60" wide with some gravel roads and forest roads mixed in. After going to all three places Marysvale would be at the top of my list. It is a long 23 plus hour drive but if you have a week to take off its worth the trip.

Wow, Chris, that looks awesome! We'll have to get together sometime and let me steal some of your tracks/routes. Never been to Utah, but might try to make it there next year.

On another note; who's planning to do the pie run this weekend? I'd like to go if someone has a route in mind.

Re: Clear Lake Bike Night Wednesday

By the way, is anyone else having trouble loading Chads .gpx files?

I made them with Honda Trip Planner. You can try going the the link and loading them there, using the "Import from my GPS" option.

I don't have a device that uses gpx files to test them on. I make them, then I convert them to .trp to use with copilot.

No problem, I just can't get Garmin Mapsource or BaseCamp to open them. You would think that a .gpx file is a .gpx file. But apparently, like so many other things, I am not right.

Try's these gpx files. I converted them from whatever GPX file format Honda Trip Planner creates to GPX 1.1 using routeconverter.

I also attached the copilot trp files in the zip file if anyone wants to try them out.

Thanks Chad, those worked, after I recalculated. Not unexpected. FYI ... the Waverly House is right at the intersection of Hwy 75 and FM 1375. If you were traveling east on FM 1375 and crossed Hwy 75, you would run right into the parking lot. You can't miss it on the route you have planned.

It's finally cooled down a little bit. Anyone up for some outdoor dinning this week? How about Mediterraneo?
