it was a video of why non motorcyclist in California hate all motorcyclist.

I think the highlight of the video is the rider cursing a lady for rolling through a stop sign as he rolls across his own line for his own stop sign.

Lucky for him, the motorists he passed, cut off, and flipped off are more courteous than he is.

If you don't understand what filtering is you shouldn't comment on it. Someone blowing through a red light as late as that person did should get flipped off. Would you rather someone T-Bone the idiot

Yes i missed my stop sign because i was watching to see if that car was going to get hit.

This is lane splitting, not Cali style either.

Cool video. I can see how beneficial it would be if that was legal everywhere. But it sure would take me a while to get use to it, kind of like driving in England...

From the looks of it, the folks on the roads in California are a lot friendlier than the ones I share the freeways with in Texas?

Do you ever have the occasional person intentionally try to block your path?

If these bother you, don't watch any youtube videos of riding in places like Vietnam.

Exactly the opposite- something like 60% of cars in the HOV lane will move left to give you more room to split. I have yet to be intentionally blocked, though unintentional happens often. You just have to be moving slow enough that you can stop in time. Keeping to within 10mph of traffic seems to work well.

Exactly. The 405 going into L.A. has the reputation of being the worst freeway in America, yet here we are splitting it during rush hour and everybody is moving over for us (start watching at 41 seconds):

That's amazing. I don't think you would ever see that type of courteous driving in the big Texas cities.

I may get a chance to witness it firsthand this summer, as it looks like my job will be sending me out to California for a few weeks. I may rent a bike and go give it a whirl...

Everyonce in awhile it happens. Which is illegal and the cops will write them up for it. Also if it should result in you hitting them then they are fully at fault. A lot of times it from someone out of state.

If you wind up in Los Angeles county. You can ride a motorcycle free in the Metro Lanes.

During the week days people that see you make room for you to get by and if you notice in the video a lot of people drive to the left side of the HOV lane to make it easier for motorcycles to get through. But on the weekends its a different story it seems most people don't want to let you by....

Here's a video of my commute home recently- you can see the folks moving out of the way. Yes, I do move a little too fast, and should probably slow down.
