I just received a call from Bruce (The Bruce) on the board here. He's on the UT/NV state line close to Baker NV with a dead DRZ400S. He is looking for the "Stator Test Procedure" as he believes the stator quit working.

What he said:
1. Bike was running fine (2000 DRZ400S)
2. His hardwired GPS gave a message "Switching to Internal Power"
3. The bike died
4. He got it PUSH started
5. Bike died
6. GPS showing 8.9V at the moment, won't crank
7. Starts with a jump but low voltage after removing cables. He's thinking stator or rectifer

He thinks the stator failed/is failing/has a loose wire, or the battery won't take a charge now

His cell number is [admin: removed]

Please call him if you can help troubleshoot this issue.

Let's keep this post in front for a better chance of finding help.

We have been helped. Thanks E.Marquez. The stator is toast. I'll call to order a replacement in the morning. Hopefully get back on the trail in a couple of days. We are at a gas station that has a hotel, casino, restaurant. We should be ok. The food real good home cooking. Enjoying some triple berry pie with huckleberry ice cream right now.

Stay away from the casino. Remember you still have to pay for the repair parts and gas to get home. :-)

Glad you got back on the road! Was great to run into you guys in Lake City. Enjoy the rest of the trip!

Not back on the road just yet. Parts are ordered and should be arriving tomorrow afternoon. Eric's help was huge. Rocky Mountain ATV had the stator in stock and ready to ship. We played a little last night. I managed to turn my $1.00 into $1.01 after about 45 minutes of video poker. Perry hit it big on penny slots and won $10. Food in the diner is really good home style cooking.

You've mentioned the food twice. Must be pretty good. :eat:

Maybe share the location for future travelers.
