Re: FI Light Anyone?

Hey Matt, what was your fuel mileage before you did the modifications?I'm just curious because mine is about the same as that most of the time but I have only known my bike after the stage 2 mods,I bought it that way. Some people say they have only lost a few mpg's after this,I was thinking about getting a new air cleaner top, leaving the secondary butterflies out and leaving my slip on muffler on and then bypass the Dobeck box to see how it performs and what kind of mileage I get but I agree it runs so good the way it is now maybe I should just leave it alone.I really love this bike I just wish it got better fuel mileage.

Re: FI Light Anyone?

"Normal" riding I've only dropped about 2-3 MPG if that. Lately its been really bad but I'm pretty sure thats the throttle bodies needing a sync since I've never had this horrible mileage!

Re: FI Light Anyone?

So Tazman, when you say 2 or 3 mile drop what does that come out to?I mean when it was getting good mileage because I just re-synced my throttle bodies and I get about the same,Iv'e read different posts about this and it does seem like mileage varies greatly from bike to bike stock or modified.I think I will return it to the original system just as an experiment just to see what happens,it will be easy enough to return it if I don't like it.Thanks.

Re: FI Light Anyone?

Thanks Tazman,ya,I would be very happy with that kind of mileage because mine is uncorrected too right off the trip meter which means it's probably even lower.I went ahead and ordered the parts for the air cleaner top and I'm also going to get some new spark plugs which could very well be part of it with over 16000 miles on the originals it's probably time.I'll see what happens and how it runs after I do this and if I don't like it I'll return it to the way it was.

Re: FI Light Anyone?

I received my air original air cleaner top a couple of weeks ago and finally had a chance to put it on and remove the Dobek box and I also replaced the spark plugs which really didn't look too bad and that's with about 16600miles on them, three of them were pretty easy to get out but one on the outside was a real bugger.I was going to get those iridium plugs but I couldn't find them locally so I just got the original ngk's at Oreily's,anyway now my bike is down to a K&N air cleaner,Delkevic slip on muffler and the secondary butterflies are removed.I have ridden it quite a bit like this and I think it's just fine, you can definitely tell there was more power with the Dobek but it still runs really well like this and this engine is still very powerful.I'll run it like this for a while and check my fuel mileage to see if it improves and if I want to change it back it is very easy to do.
