Slime or similar in tube type tires?

Ok I've read both sides of the argument.

For use in a dirt bike, would slime (or similar) take care of small leaks like from thorns?
 
worked for me with hd tubes in big bend, when several others in our party had flats. Its not a failsafe for torn valves etc but I think its worth the effort. It made me feel warm and fuzzy.
 
.. and helps with balancing. I'm in the 'Ride on' camp.
 
I like Ride On, but they're both worth trying!
