Can anyone recommend a CE back protector insert for jackets???That foam pad will not work for me...

I have the Core-Comp in mine now. I have also known someone with Knox that liked it very much.

I have heard some people talk good about sas-tec products. Another brand that gets good press is Forcefield armor. Their Sub-4 protector in particular gets a lot of good reviews.

The Sas-Tec stuff is supposed to be "trimmable" to fit almost any jacket, but I'm not sure I'd try it. My jackets are both Olympia and they come with CE armor in the back although I hope I never have to check on its shock absorbing powers :)

I don't see anything on the sas-tec site that indicates they're CE approved for motorcycle use. Maybe because it's a German site we're supposed to assume they are?

I have a Joe Rocket branded Force Field protector that I like. It's ventilated, a bit, so it's cooler than some of the others. The real issue for the OP may be finding something that fits in the pocket in the back of the jacket. Every manufacturer has their own shape. The Forcefield, for example, won't fit in a First Gear jacket, which is what made me choose the Joe Rocket.

It seems like you could cut it to fit without affecting it's impact absorbing abilities, but I've never tried to cut it, nor have I tested it's effectiveness. Like Scottie says, the Forcefield stuff gets good press.

NewEnough.com / motorcyclegear.com sells the Joe Rocket version, as well as several other brands:

The Sas-Tec armor is like tempur foam on steroids. It's flexible, really comfortable but becomes rigid on impact.
Here's how the Sas-Tec back pad compares to the one that came in my ReV'it! jacket.
