D3O is a soft protective material that hardens on impact. They have a web site, and people have made YouTube videos. Looks impressive. Anyone try it?
 
My Klim jacket and pants use it all over the place; elbows, shoulders, back, knee, hip. I did slid out in a water crossing on my XR650L with the jacket on. I hit my elbow pretty hard but it didn't seem to hurt to bad, so I guess it worked in a super slow speed test.
 
Same here, my Klim jacket has it all over. Granted, I've yet to try it out.
