And Sunday I'm going to be catching breakfast at 7am at La Mexicana Bakery off S.1st before heading out to the track, cheap tacos, pastries and coffee if yah want to join.

Also I thought it was the bumps on the large sweeper turn around the COTA tower that bucked Vinales off of his ride last year from what I remember.
Thanks for posting. I'm headed to the AF1 party now.

Beautiful day at Circuit of Americas not crowded at all. Heading back in morning to camp Saturday, rain chances have decreased.

Yes, they're only expecting one major shower tomorrow. Which will be over your tent

Re: MotoGP 2018 & Handbuilt Motorcycle Show

There was talk at track about the part of the track that was ground off because of last years rider complaints. They said there may be a problem and something about yellow flag. I did see on the big monitor some shimmy in front ends in one section. Anyone hear anything?

Marquez penalized from pole to second row for balking Vinalles(Tech 3). What is balked? A fake swerve? Vinalles on pole.

Impeding

Marc is on a roll in terms of penalties. But he'll still win tomorrow.

He blocked while the other rider had a poke position run going on qualifications.

Re: MotoGP 2018 & Handbuilt Motorcycle Show (warning: spoilers)

Hmm, I think race direction is getting a little slap-happy. Sandbagging during qualifying to prevent towing someone is commonplace, but he clearly did impede Vinalies, and on the racing line through an otherwise fast turn.

Marc and Mav were chipper and chatty in park firme after the qualifying, this didn't have a meaningful impact on either of them. Nor will the penalty, so we get to see a straight-up dry race today. I really hope Vin or one of the Andrea's can pressure Marc for at least a few laps. And that Cal can stay on the bike and stay competitive.

Logistical question: can anyone confirm if the T11 gate is OPEN for entering the track? I know you can exit through it, but I don't know if they have ticket-takers there. It's a LOT closer to the bike parking and makes getting to the T9 side of the track a much shorter walk. I'll give it a try, unless someone can confirm it's closed.

Re: MotoGP 2018 & Handbuilt Motorcycle Show (warning: spoilers)

When I exited turn 11 gate yesterday it didn't look like they were taking tickets. And he would only let me exit you said I wouldn't be able to reenter because they couldn't rescan my tickets. So I'd say no you can't answer us at 11.

I'd like to say "I told you so" but it would be a cheap shot

Well, I manage to meet up with Gravel Guy and Mason, Jeff S, Deco and Zigzag and at the end, Tricepilot. It was good to visit with all of them. Racing undercard was good. Main event was a bit boring.

Re: MotoGP 2018 & Handbuilt Motorcycle Show (warning: spoilers)

Real boring not even a race within the race, Before his career is over Marquez may be the greatest M/C racer there has ever been.. The big screen and sound on turn 11 was great. This year may be my last, lot of walking and $.
It looked like a lot more people this year. I froze riding to it and hot going home, but overall a lot of fun.

Re: MotoGP 2018 & Handbuilt Motorcycle Show (warning: spoilers)

Attendance figures, which COTA no longer releases to the media, surpassed expectations because COTA opened two extra parking lots at the last minute, both free to the public.

If Marquez has any influence as to his opinion of the track upon the Barcelona based DORNA Sports (holding company for MotoGP), DORNA will move to Austin and build their HQ here along side of Marc's mansion he has under construction

Yes, it is easier to watch the whole thing online via MotoGP Videopass or whatever else is out there, but a day in the sunshine in Texas watching all levels of racing versus staying at home watching reruns of the Andy Griffith Show isn't a hard decision.

I must be invisible.

I wore a black TWT t-shirt hoping somebody would shout me out.

I never saw anybody I knew.... TWT peeps or otherwise.

Should've just stayed for Moto 2 & 3 and then gone home. I would've beat more of the crowd. MotoGP was another snoozer.
