XR400 Electric Start

IronSpadeCycles,

That trip sounds very, very cool, quite an adventure. If you do something like that again and want someone to try and keep up with you, I'm in. Do you remember a TV show in the early '70s, "Then Came Bronson"? Sort of a Route 66 with a guy, Bronson, traveling place to place on a bike. That has always been a bucket list thing for me. Thanks for sharing your story.:sun:

do you have to change the INNER left side case to accept the starter, or just crank and OUTER case cover with starter gears and flywheel? thanks

You can use the xr main cases. But where the starter bolts to case is not threaded. The boss is there I just drilled and threaded the boss about 3/8" deep for the 6mm bolts at rear of starter.
All you need is the crankshaft and left side case stuff starter gears etc.
