Kendon 2-bike Stand-up Trailer FS, AUSTIN

SOLD

This is the famous fold-up trailer you can put against the garage wall. I just bought the trailer, and have decided I won't use it...I'd have to buy a new car to pull it with, as it turns out my Camry Hybrid's warranty will be voided if I so much as think about putting a trailer hitch on it. My fault for not checking it out beforehand. The trailer looks like it's never been registered. The previous owner must not have known how to back a trailer, as both rails have bends in them, typical of backing-up jackknifing. I called Kendon, and confirmed that the bends will have no effect on the usefulness of the trailer, or loading bikes onto it. Everything is there, and in perfect working order. I pulled it (empty) about 300 miles behind a small car and couldn't tell it was there unless I looked in the mirrors. This is a 2001 model, made with the heavy channel steel rails instead of the thin tubes the current trailers come with. Tires look brand new...as I said, it looks like the thing was never used other than to jacknife it by a novice. (Don't misunderstand, I don't mean "jacknife" in the sense of getting sideways on the highway and wrecking it). I'll be getting it registered in Texas in the next day or two, so it will have a fresh tag on it. No surprises, it's as described. Can't deliver, come get it, cash only. More pix? Just ask: send email address.

$1500

You have to guess; if you get it right, you get to buy the trailer. Or, maybe I hit "enter" too soon?

I added it to the ad: $1500

btw - the last two or three kendon's i've seen sell out this way all brought $1500. only think is, they were all 'singles' instead of a double bike trailer. heck of a deal here.

Trade you for an '09 single rail.

I can well imagine it has been jackknifed. A short wheelbase trailer can be very hard to back up, especially if it's too low for you to see it well. I put bike flags on the little trailer I have to help with that.

Hope you find a buyer.

With the comments about the jackknifing, let me stress that the dings are not going to affect the loading or stability or safety of the bikes. I called Kendon about this issue, and was assured that it won't be a problem. The lady who answered the phone said it happens all the time.

Re: Kendon 2-bike Stand-up Trailer FS, AUSTIN

I have pulled a borrowed single rail trailer from Dallas to Houston. I also bought a 3 rail combo trailer through Craigslist in Dallas. I have pulled this three rail several thousand miles with two street bikes. Kendon makes a fine trailer that is easy to load as it is low and the bike can be pushed on, stores in a small area, and pulls like it not there.

Any idea on when it was manufactured? Are the rails removable? Where are the kinks in the rails?

It's a 2001 model, according to the VIN and a phone call to Kendon.

The rails are not removable, they're welded to the frame and are an integral part of the frame. I've seen the new style, and my opinion, for what it's worth, is that the kind I have is sturdier.

The rails are both bent a little bit in the portion that is bent upward at the factory where the tire would rest. The photos should show the bends.

I should add that this trailer does not have the optional Kendon chocks. The chocks are still available from Kendon. They're two pieces, one mounts in the slots you see in the photos, the other you drill a couple holes in the sides of the rails. They'd allow you to load a bike singlehandedly in both rails. I'm certain I could easily load a bike in the right (looking at the trailer from the rear) by myself, without the chock; I'd need a helper for the other rail. The chocks are $130 for one rail, or $200 for the pair.

Any further questions, call me: 512-415-069two
