Android Tablet for GPS?

Yeah, that is something Google keeps enhancing. They the last thing before this was caching more info, like if you planned a route it would cache as much of the maps as it thought it might need. Now you are able to control is some yourself.

Oh, and I moved this over into the gear section from For Sale since it had morphed into a function discussion more than a post about a gps for sale.

I have had great results using a google Nexus 7 (64gig/gps/wifi only) tablet for GPS.

It has worked really well

It cost me about $10 to rig up my iphone mount, and I use a cigarette lighter adapter with a USB cable to charge it. The android phone for my dad was mounted using his existing RAM mount, it cost maybe $10 to build the phone holder for it. Have used the iPhone 3GS for several long trips, then after my son drowned it have used the iphone 5. No issues with vibration, and when it rained I covered the phone with a ziploc bag and rubber bands. My trips usually contain lots of bumpy terrain, and we crash tested both mine and my dad's on our 1200 mile 80% dirt road trip.

Vibration issues are way overblown in my opinion.

I put my phone mount pics on the web to show somebody, so I thought I would follow up here. For my Iphone, I use velcro on the phone case, with rubber band backup. The mount is cutting board material attached to aluminum strap, attached to the bike with a mirror mount.

On dad's DR650 we used an Android phone from one of the no-contract companies. It is supposedly water resistant and shock resistant. The bad part is lack of a cheep phone cover to attach velcro to, but we already had a RAM mount, so:
