Do Music and Motorcycles go together?

I've only just discovered the understated beauty of Nick Drake's "Pink Moon" this week... How have I gone my whole life without ever hearing this?

Now you've got me listening to Gary Numan's "The Pleasure Principle" this morning...

After reading about him on Wikipedia, I didn't realize he did guest vocals on Battles' album "Gloss Drop". I think I've posted one of their songs in this thread before, they are usually an instrumental group- with the drummer from Helmet. Here is the great video of their song "My Machines", featuring Gary Numan on vocals:

Computer speakers acting up,will listen to it when I get home. Shipman look up his first two albums more guitar and less synthesizers.:jammin: You might enjoy them also. Think I remember that he did his first album at 17. This is one of the reasons I really enjoy this thread, you learn stuff about artists that you did not know. Thanks for the heads up on Gary Numan shipman.

I'm not ashamed to say I've always been a fan of Weird Al Yankovic, and here is a good one off his new album (a parody of Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines"):

Haven't posted in here in a while... :sun:

I'm posting Black Flag's "Black Coffee" because it's the song stuck in my head this morning, because I'm currently drinking black coffee, and because it's a great Rollins-era Black Flag tune:

Good stuff, KP!

Speaking of Gary Numan, I just saw that he released a new album this year. This is the first song:

Not sure why YouTube lists it as "Dramatis ft. Gary Numan", because on Spotify it is on the album "Terrestrial Channels" by Gary Numan.

Not sure what to think about that last Gary Numan??? I need to listen to it again. His first two albums are my favorite works of his. Glad to see he is still producing music. What is your favorite album of his?

I must admit to being a new, casual Gary Numan fan. I'm not familiar enough with any of his albums to name a fave- I'm just dabbling...

Good suggestions, Tourmeister... Thanks for playing!

The only song most people have heard from Gary Numan is Cars.

Awesome!

I failed to mention several albums by Vladimir Horowitz that I love. The guy is incredible. His Moscow performance in particular is just fantastic.

On a slightly different note, this guy rocks!

Very nice. I very much like classical music. I'm especially a Beethoven freak. The problem with piano sonatas and frankly most movements of most symphonies is they're just not loud enough to be heard very well over the wind and motor noise. I have six of Beethoven's symphonies, Shubert's Unfinished, and a few odd pieces by the Boson Pops on my MP3 player. But they're hard enough to hear that, more often than not, I give up and switch to a Cream or Los Lonely Boys album.

I don't listen and ride because most of the music I might listen to while riding would make me ride too fast... ;-)

what do you listen on?
I use Shure SE530 in ears. stupid expensive, but SO worth it.
just the right amount of motor music gets in the mix.

I have a Sony MP3 player. The earphones are your standard Sony earhanger sports headphones. Plenty loud until I listen to the classics. Actually, I think the greater problem is the extremely wide dynamics in classical music. They compress the heck out of pop/country so that, even when it's quiet, the volume is roughly the same. An MP3 of Beethoven's Choral Fantasy runs the dynamic gamut from triple pianissimo to triple forte. If I can hear those gentle piano trills, my head will be blown off when the 70-piece orchestra kicks in.
