So, You Got a Track Bike

I started full time track only conversion of the gixxer this afternoon. I installed a Woodcraft keyless ingition harness, removed the left side switches (no lights horn or signals needed at the track. Pulled off the front part of the bodywork, installed a keyless gas cap. Will start fitting the race bodywork tomorrow. Should be fun, then I may just leave her primer gray. We shall see. I took off a lot of Gixxer parts. Maybe I will sell them, not sure yet.

Woo Hoo! More to folllow

Re: So, You Got a Track Bike

Looking good.

My GSXR is track only as well but it doesn't have the keyless ignition.

We should do a track day together sometime.

Re: So, You Got a Track Bike

I try to go on Thursdays or Fridays at MSR, lower crowds and that when my buddies get to go as well.

The best part is I am slow and have consistent lines so I am easy to pass.

Re: So, You Got a Track Bike

I have been in search of a clean black front fender for my Hayabusa . The gen bike you have fits gen 2 hayabusa , and makes for easy tire changes . The OEM fender from Suzuki is geared towards top speed covering more tire that the GSXR 1000 / 750's also my front fender took out a bird awhile back so it is marked on its leading edges from the strike .

I might could do that. I know you are a member there. Im not. Can you bring friends to member days? How does that work. I assume there's a non-member fee.

Also thinking of doing Ride Smart weekend on the 18th.

Re: So, You Got a Track Bike

Guests can go, I can have one per month. Cost $25.00 per session. I should clarify, that is per 30 min session on the track. This time of year we max out at 3 due to temps.

Re: So, You Got a Track Bike

Nice work. When I still lived in PA I gave serious thought into turning my 2005 SV650N into a track bike, but then I got back into dual sports and adventure bikes and sold the SV.

Re: So, You Got a Track Bike

I used to have an RC8R I made into a track only scooter. So this should be fun. I already run racing rubber on her, so if I want to street it, I have to change wheels. Now I can just mount up 2 sets and be good for a summer.

In street clothes, if you will..

Set up for the track. That is KTM factory race bodywork and I had a guy make up the decals. I got it painted black so I didn't have to change the tank.

I love the RC8. So beautiful...and the sound is incredible too.

I bit too much bike for Cresson though IMO....would be really fun at COTA.

Re: So, You Got a Track Bike

Unfortunately, I traded it on a Superduke 1290R and the dude that later purchased it totaled the thing. So, she is no more. The thing was great fun at Cresson, but the Gixxer is a better handling scooter. Some day I may have one like it again.

What lift is that in your photos? Looks like a nice one with plenty of room for laying tools/parts down beside the bike.

Re: So, You Got a Track Bike

That is an original Handy Lift from Handy Industries. It is the 1000# rated model. I added the side skirts and the 13 in extension along with an upgraded chock. These things are great.

This is my B.O.B. Handy Industries lift it does 1500# but doesn't have the extensions. It does have a rear wheel drop out though and it goes up a little higher.

Oooh, a 750. So much more fun than a 600. Actual torque!
