Yamaha's 2nd Generation FZ1 offers sportbike performance and handling, but with excellent rider comfort. The riding position is more upright for comfortable all day adventures. The FZ1 offers a significant level of power and performance, and is not intended for novice or inexperienced riders.

The FZ1 is inspired from the 3rd generation R1 ('04 to '06) sportbike platform with 150 HP in-line 4 cylinder engine; 12,000 RPM redline; stiff twin spar aluminum frame; 25 degree rake angle; 51% front / 49 % rear weight balance; 4.3” of trail; and 47 degree lean angle. Fully adjustable suspension; and 6-speed close-ratio transmission. The bike gets 40+ MPG on regular gas. The half fairing design gives a good balance of wind protection without turbulence.

This motorcycle is very clean; totally stock; has been well maintained, and in excellent condition. I have ridden over 7,000 miles on the motorcycle and have had absolutely zero problems of any kind. Totally reliable. The 190/50 ZR-17 rear tire will need replacement within a few thousand miles, but otherwise the bike is ready to ride. I have the clear blue Texas title and registration paperwork in my name, and is immediately available. Thanks for looking.

Re: For Sale - 2006 Yamaha FZ1

These are great bikes, this one almost new.

I giggle at the Yamaha spec "excessive angle engine cut out switch" as I once hit it on the FJR. It comes after you scrape off the peg feelers then keep leaning. No prob on the FZ.

Re: For Sale - 2006 Yamaha FZ1

These bikes are equipped with a "tip over" switch that kills the engine when the bike is leaned over about 75 degrees from vertical. Out of curiosity, I dismounted this switch from the frame, but left the wires connected. Started the engine, and then slowly tilted the switch - until sure enough the engine shuts down. Good safety feature in the event of a crash.

The FZ1 starts to scrape the pegs at about 47 degrees from vertical, so it should never kill the engine unless something goes very wrong.
