Re: Friday ride @ Rio

I went out last Saturday to help my son with a MX school. The track was still a little soft in the low places from the midweek rain. They also had the track rerouted & not doing the step up.
Good chance of rain Thursday but otherwise I will try to make it out for some easy riding Friday.

Re: Friday ride @ Rio

With all the rain in the forecast, I'm going to go ride the forest in the morning (if it's open) instead.

Re: Friday ride @ Rio

I am going to try to ride @ Rio Friday from around noon to 3 ish. Anyone else? I'm going to need to stop for a large can of WD to loosen up the rust. It's been a while.

Re: Friday ride @ Rio

I'm not going to make it. I'm going out of town (camping and ATV riding), and the bike is taken apart. I'm doing some maintenance.
Hopefully next Friday

Re: Friday ride @ Rio

Got in a good ride @ Rio last Friday. Track was pretty good & I felt OK other than being bad out of shape. Doesn't look like I'll get in any riding this weekend. Doing my annual swimming pool maintenance turnaround.
Was looking forward to racing the EVO round on May 19th but I'm so bad out of shape & such a short time to get there I may not.

I'm not riding today either. The bike is still apart. I've been lazy, and busy

I may be out next week, as my dad is coming to town to help with a home improvement / construction project.

I really need to get some seat time in. I'm hoping to ride a hate scramble may 18.

Re: Friday ride @ Rio

I rode this Wednesday a few hours and the old bike beat me up pretty good. Dang that old school suspension is a back breaker. I got a kidney belt already for the next ride. I also need to do some mods to my brake pedal as I had no reliable rear brake all day. Alpinestars are not compatible with the tight clearance and small foot plate. Not too fun trying to scrub speed after a jump for a turn and finding you got front brake only. Needless to say I stayed in 2nd-3rd gear all day and just gave the engine a nice re-break-in after 20 years of inactivity.

OLDERMXER hope to see you at the EVO race on the 19th. I'll be racing the over 50 Vintage class if I get comfortable on the bike by then. If not I might still be there flagging if needed.

Re: Friday ride @ Rio

I don't think my back could handle the old bikes suspension. Heck I'm clicking on my modern shock pretty regular to give me the most comfortable ride.
If I can get in a ride or two before the 19th & feel decent I will probably race because racing EVO @ Rio is about the only racing I would consider @ this point. If I race it will be the "modern, plus 50 jr". #142 KXF250
