This bridge is old and rickety:eek2: It shakes when you walk on it and the boards gave under just our weight....

It is still in use...saw 1ton Dodge dually truck cross with a feed hopper on back...Dahveed and Johndavid playing on bridge:lol2:

Well, they finally closed it, and I've been across some in much worse shape. Who knows the whole story on the decisions that are made, but they seem to be closing instead of re-furbishing too many lately. I'll bet as long as it's no inconvenience to the landowners on either side then shut 'em down! Fortunately they make for some great dualsport destinations regardless. Glenda, Clark an I visited several old bridge sites on the Leon River where there are a plethora of old bridges to be found. Most have been replaced with concrete bridges, but none have been restored. This is near Ater and Jonesboro. Some are hidden on deadend roads through thick underbrush, but are still accesible. I had a big talk with my commissioner the other day-Milam doesn't have the money to refurbish ...sad. We've gotta love on these ole bridges while we can!
