It cost me about $10 to rig up my iphone mount, and I use a cigarette lighter adapter with a USB cable to charge it. The android phone for my dad was mounted using his existing RAM mount, it cost maybe $10 to build the phone holder for it. Have used the iPhone 3GS for several long trips, then after my son drowned it have used the iphone 5. No issues with vibration, and when it rained I covered the phone with a ziploc bag and rubber bands. My trips usually contain lots of bumpy terrain, and we crash tested both mine and my dad's on our 1200 mile 80% dirt road trip.
Vibration issues are way overblown in my opinion.
