Pie Run X - Gorfgeous day in EDOM at The Shed

Got home about 5:15 or so with just under 300 miles for the day.

Had several firsts on this PR:

1. had to stop for 2 trains
2. had a random rider just decide to join us and followed us to Edom (he said what we were doing looked more fun that what he was doing)
3. Had another rider join us in Seven Points and then figure out it was the wrong group (both groups ended up at the same place)
4. Kurt hasn't bought a bike all year and rode the same bike on 2 successive PRs

there are probably others...

more to follow - put stories and pictures here.

-edit- Thanks for merging, Kurt

Edom Pie Run Pictures

Jamie and I got an early start as we were meeting Pete at the local racetrac at 7AM. We headed over to meet Jackie and Alta at the Walmart in Terrell. It was a little chilly riding this morning. We go to Edom at 10:30 to find the parking lot empty. That would not last as the gang showed up just a tad before 11AM. We go to see some old friends and make some new ones, so the day was a good one. We got home at 3pm after logging in 285 miles. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday.

You can see all of the pictures here (they were taken with my cell phone so sorry for the quality: Pie Run Pics

When we arrived:

Great day.. till next time..have fun and ride safe

Forgot my camera today so no pictures . Still it was a great day. Although Edom is only 62 miles from Terrell I ended up riding 341 miles in beautiful weather, talked to a bunch of great people, had a good lunch and of course some Buttermilk Pie. What more can you ask for.

Good food, good, pie, and even better weather. Thanks Chuck for organizing the event.

Re: Pie Run X: Spooky in East Texas, Edom, 10/30/2010

ten down two to go!!

started out a chilly 42*f at the house, I have been to a total of 16 pie runs and this was the first time we have got stopped by a train.

no complaints, Chuck always leads a nice scenic ride (except the Adrian one, and I was out front for most of that one) I like riding out east, nice rolling sweepers through the tall trees. the hybrid white horse/dog beast Chuck spooked across the road was a unexpected surprise!

good to see familiar smiling faces and new ones.

managed to chase Kurt all the way to Corsicana before the curse of the small tank let the long legged beemer get away, that and our paths split at the HEB.

As expected, I thoroughly enjoyed my first Pie Run. Thanks to Chuck (and any and all others who helped put it together). I enjoyed meeting Soozy, Hank1, Hank (aka Hank2), Allen, Christopher, Amanda, Leon, and everyone else.

Oh, and great ride, too!

It was nice to meet you too Jeffro.

I totally enjoyed this ride AND I saw a road runner. That is beyond finding a lucky penny and just short of a lottery win.

Got there just as everyone was leaving. Still, great ride and excellent onion rings and pie (not at the same time).

Chuck, was that you I hooked up with on 287 as some other riders split off? Hope to get back into the habit of making these runs.

Sorry we missed you, Chris.

Re: Pie Run X: Spooky in East Texas, Edom, 10/30/2010

M first pie run in a long time. Great to see the regulars again and to meet some new to me pie eaters. I felt a little out of place in the parking lot. I rode the only Ducati at the gathering.

Chuck talking with a Burgman rider.

Chuck's back and Mark Rooney on the far right, don't know the other riders

Burgman group

DS group

Soozy and her new to me White Burgman

Unpacking after a chilly ride

Scott discussing BMW quirks with a fellow owner

Sharon and her BMW

Serious discussions

East Texas Group

Cruisers

Scott was stopping by tables to see if anyone brought spare handcuff keys

I passed a group of bicyclists riding in from Mabank. One came over to admire our bikes. Can you tell which is the bicyclist and which is the pie eating motorcyclist? The leather pants are a dead giveaway.

Another great Pie Run after a long time since my last one in Hico (brrrrr)
The ride up had a bit of brrrr, I stopped in Madisonville for gas and was seriously thinking about plugging in the heated gear, but thought better of it.
Good to see some familiar faces and meet some new folks.
Took a fairly convoluted route back to the house led by Fred (Ft Bend Rider) and Doug, TWT handle ??? 523 miles all told.

The scooter gang.

......and yes, the pumpkin does light up.

What happened to you?

We pull out of the parking lot and you went left, when the houses are to the right. Did you want more pie?

By the way, the pumpkin looked great lit up.
